In this role, you will provide strategic and tactical leadership of the Global Accounting and Tax departments across Columbia Threadneedle Investments including direct oversight of Financial Reporting, Accounting, Business Support, Pricing/Corporate Actions and Treasury teams, along with dotted line responsibility for the Mutual Fund Tax team. This role will also manage staff and stakeholder relationships across multiple geographic regions including routine interaction with mutual fund boards.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the Accounting and Tax department to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of service daily to internal and external clients while establishing and maintaining a control structure that limits the risk of financial losses and audit findings
Serve as Treasurer of the Columbia Funds and act as single point of contact for the Columbia Funds audit committee(s). Serve as chairperson of the Valuation Committee for Columbia Management Investment Advisors
Provide strategic direction for the Accounting and Tax departments and adapt strategies to changing circumstances as required. Scan the external environment for new regulations and assess the impact on our investment products and our operations. Clearly communicate the strategic direction of the Accounting and Tax department to the team and key partners
Evaluate transformational opportunities and execute on those that will deliver value from an efficiency and effectiveness perspective
Provide management and oversight of key vendors for the Global Accounting and Tax department
Direct the execution of regulatory reports, audited financial statements, project leadership and business analysis and system support. Serve as single point of contact for internal and external auditors
Lead projects as assigned, on time and within budget, including cross team/department projects as required
Partner with teams across Global Operations & Investor Services to deliver on Columbia Threadneedle’s client priorities
Ensure effective controls are in place to proactively manage risk and remain in compliance with company policies and procedures
Manage the budget for areas of responsibility and work to identify and solve potential challenges and opportunities
Required Qualifications:
10+ years' experience in asset management / securities business, preferably in operations
Experience leading large multi-location operations teams
Desired Qualifications:
Advanced understanding of financial instruments across asset classes
Comprehensive knowledge of investment products and services, securities processing, and information technology
Ability to influence change and outcomes with senior leaders outside reporting lines/department; ability to maintain strong working partnerships
Ability to present effectively to senior leadership and boards
