Position Summary: As an ENGEO Geotechnical Engineer with a specialty in Numerical Modeling, you will gain geotechnical experience working on a wide variety of challenging, world-renowned projects. You will be encouraged and supported to manage increasingly complex and seismically challenging projects.
Primary Responsibilities
- Use numeric modeling to develop engineering recommendations for design and construction of private and public projects.
- Effectively communicate and collaborate with clients, subcontractors, city agents, project managers (locally and in other regional offices), and peers.
- Perform well-defined field, analytical, and project administrative responsibilities with direction and encouragement from project managers and senior staff.
- May be assigned increasingly more complex, non-routine tasks with review and oversight from senior leadership.
Requirements
Our Ideal Candidate
- Robust understanding of numerical modeling such as the finite element method (FEM) and/or finite difference method (FDM), including:
- Boundary conditions
- Wave propagation
- Constitutive models
- Working knowledge of FEM and/or FDM software programs such as PLAXIS, FLAC, LS-DYNA, or equivalent programs in 2D and 3D
- Robust knowledge of Geotechnical Engineering fundamentals and Soil-Structure Interaction
- Coding capability in Python and/or Matlab
All Candidate Criteria
- Education: M.S. degree in a relevant field, Ph.D. preferred
- Experience: 5-7+ years
- Earthquake engineering knowledge a plus
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and GIS experience a plus
- Robust writing and communicative skills
- Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic, and diverse environment
- Have the ability to work and succeed as a team also while being resourceful when working alone
