Valeo Resources has partnered with a non-profit substance abuse/mental health organization. We are currently seeking candidates for a full-time Director of Philanthropy to join the team in South LA!
The Director of Philanthropy will be part of a small but mighty team, working in a fast-paced environment. We are looking for someone who is a team player, but willing to be the sole SoCal representative responsible for developing and building positive relationships and implementing communication strategies that continuously cultivate these relationships with individual and corporate donors in Southern California. As an integral member of the Philanthropy and Marketing team, s/he will research, do outreach, and continually grow our base of sponsors and donors. This position is remote unless face-to-face solicitations, donor tours, events, etc. are required.
This individual would need to be a self-starter, motivated to inspire our LA board members, donors, Client leaders, and their community to get involved and engaged philanthropically. Comfortable networking and sharing about our work with new audiences, and bringing a new cadre of donors into the fold.
Responsibilities
- Establish, maintain and manage a portfolio of approximately 150 high net-worth individuals, families, and private foundations from identification to cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
- Make direct, face-to-face solicitations, and assist the board and other staff with their solicitation (e.g., provide portfolio development support, strategic counsel, and help with donor communications).
- Consult with the VP of Philanthropy and Events Manager to create and supervise implementation of targeted events for prospects and donors. This may include ticketed events, small donor dinners, or other formats that will motivate, engage, and educate prospects and donors.
- Create, develop, and lead fundraising events for our LA-based programs. Develop and lead the event committee and make asks in order to raise individual and corporate sponsorships.
- Ensure donor acknowledgement, stewardship, and public recognition, as appropriate.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree, Graduate Degree preferred.
- At least five years (eight or more preferred) combined experience in donor relations, with strong connections to the LA/Southern California philanthropic community.
- Familiarity with donor management database systems, and ability to research necessary information on prospects.
- Ability to successfully and effectively represent HealthRIGHT 360 and merged agencies in diverse forums and maintain a broad spectrum of relationships with donors and potential donors.
- Ability to build a donor base.
Benefits Offered
- Robust benefits package, including PTO, 15 paid holidays, commuter benefits, retirement plans, and more!
- Employees qualify for public loan forgiveness programs.
- Training and professional development opportunities.
