Ascen is building the premier platform to manage and pay the external workforce -- that means freelancers, contractors, temporary employees, and other non-traditional workers who make up a growing portion of the workforce.
We are expanding our compliance team and we need a Director of HR with extensive knowledge of the staffing industry to join our team. This position is 100% remote but you must be based in the US.
The Director of HR will be the main point of contact for our US contingent workforce compliance for both internal and external stakeholders. You will help develop the company’s policies and knowledge in relation to legal issues and help translate that knowledge into requirements for our product teams as well as assist with training our partners and clients on compliance matters.
Responsibilities
- Be the main point of contact for US contingent workforce questions
- Provide expertise and guidance on compliance and related risks to the company
- Stay up to date with US labor, payroll, and worker classification laws and provide guidance to our product/engineering teams where necessary
- Attend partner and client meetings as an expert in support of our account management activities
- Create and maintain policies related to our compliance obligations
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher
- Extensive experience with the contingent workforce/staffing
- Knowledge of US payroll and independent contractor issues
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent analytical skills
- Willingness to work in a fast-paced, startup environment
