New England Traffic Practice Lead- Transportation Infrastructure

Position Overview:
The New England (NE) Traffic Practice portfolio consists of a strong base of business to support further growth of the team and we have a well-established reputation in our core markets. The Traffic lead will be involved in business development activities and supervise a team of traffic engineers supporting road and highway projects in the NE area as well as other projects across the United States. You will be a key member of the NE Leadership Team, promoting area goals, alongside colleagues serving as Discipline Leads and Project Managers and reporting to the Area Manager. This is a Seller/Doer role that plays a part in growing out traffic engineering business and team across NE with the DOT and with local municipal and transit agencies.
This job can be based in our Boston, MA office or East Hartford, CT office.
What You will Be Doing:
- Prepare, coordinate, and supervise traffic engineering design, analysis and modeling tasks and provide traffic discipline support to other Discipline Leads and Project Managers.
- Coordinate overall traffic backlog, schedules, budgets, and deadlines.
- Train and manage traffic resources including staff workloads, career planning, individual development plans, including one-on-one conversations, salary recommendations, etc.
- Actively engage with Traffic Engineering Technical Organization within Parsons to share or seek resources as needed.
- Create a challenging professional environment of innovation, opportunity, development, and continuous improvement for the Traffic team focused on staff growth and succession planning.
- Plan, monitor and ensure compliance with scope, schedule, and budgetary constraints on multiple projects.
- Lead/support (as appropriate) the development of Traffic Engineering/Design portfolio in collaboration with the New England Leadership Team.
- Serve as Traffic Discipline Lead on pursuits and opportunities with CTDOT, MassDOT, RIDOT, and other clients in New England.
- Support Design-Build and major project in other Areas / Offices.
Additional Goals/Responsibilities:
- Participate in Parsons’ Traffic Engineering Technical Organization to establish internal professional network.
- Support or lead traffic engineering tasks for other offices within the Northeast area including Pennsylvania.
- Strategize and engage in hiring decisions to achieve organic growth. Identify and develop high-potential talent.
- Participate in strategizing, storyboarding, writing, and reviewing proposals – become an integral part of the team’s success.
- Participate in Business Development strategy meetings as needed.
- Engage and serve in leadership positions within industry organizations, with specific subcommittee involvement at relevant New England organizations including ACEC, ITE, ASCE, and others.
- Maintain current knowledge of project pipeline for key clients.
What Skills and Experience You will Bring:
- 4-year degree in Civil Engineering (or related field) and 15 years or more of related work experience in traffic engineering and analysis.
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration is required.
- PTOE certification is highly desirable, but not required.
- Experience interfacing with CTDOT, MassDOT, or other state DOT representatives in New England is essential.
- Solid foundational knowledge of basic traffic analysis and design software such as Synchro, Vissim, MicroStation and others.
- Alternative delivery/design-build project experience is a plus.
