EP Cardiology Openings (2) in Metro Birmingham, Alabama
We have 2 new EP positions available in Metro Birmingham, Alabama. The team consists of 15 physicians: 4 non-interventional, 2 EPs (one is leaving to be with family in TN after working for BHC for 15 years), and the rest are interventional cardiologists. There are 5 locations on our campuses.
The resignation is effective December 31, and we hope to hire one experienced EP and one new graduate. The practice was planning to expand the EP position prior to the resignation and is now back to normal post-Covid, having never shut their doors.
Key details include:
- 3 years to partnership, possibly 2 years, with a buy-in period of 18 months.
- Salary with discretionary bonus in the mid $400s.
- $12K moving expense, $3K CME + 5 days.
- ProAssurance is claims made.
- 15 days of PTO + holidays + 8 days during the week of Christmas or the week after.
- 401K after 1 year + profit sharing to maximize contributions.
- Medical and dental coverage at no cost for individuals or families.
- $150K life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, and $450K of insurance on own.
- Training includes Internal Medicine, Interventional Cardiology, and EP fellowship.

The practice was established 28 years ago and has 3-4 rooms in the clinic. The team includes a dedicated MA and RN, shared Device Tech, Device MA, and NP.
Procedures are performed 3 days per week, with the physician leaving seeing approximately 30 patients per day in clinic for 2 days per week. The EMR system is Nextgen in the office and Cerner in the hospital. Procedures performed in-office include Echo, Vascular Ultrasound, Stress test, PET, CT, Event monitor, Holter monitor, and ABI.
Patient demographics include Medicare (35%), Blue Cross (35%), and Medicaid. The clinic days involve seeing around 30 patients. A hospitalist handles all patients in the hospital and all procedures.
Call is shared with non-interventionists at a ratio of 1:6 on weekdays, and weekend call is 1:7-8, with 2 people on call during the weekend. Holidays are shared equally among the team.
There is a lot of support from another EP and 2 new EPs, and the referral base is large and well-established, making this a ready-made practice.
