Full-time Adult Psychiatrist to become a member of our Inpatient Treatment Team at Overlook Medical Center in Summit, NJ. Responsibilities include managing inpatients and guiding a multidisciplinary team on our 24-bed, Voluntary Adult Psychiatric Unit. As we treat some refractory mood disorders, interest in training in ECT is a plus, and mentoring will be provided. Also, interest in Geriatric Psychiatry is a plus as we work with some patients with behavioral disturbance due to Dementia. On-going mentoring and guidance from senior Psychiatrists will be available to any candidate.
Clinical Functions:
- Provide timely psychiatric evaluations, admissions, daily rounds, and discharges on the inpatient psychiatric unit.
- Participate as an active team member and leader in unit treatment team meetings to determine the course of treatment and discharge recommendations.
- Complete all required chart documentation and billing in accordance with departmental standards.
- Provide clinical coverage of responsibilities of employed departmental psychiatrist during their vacation leaves as assigned by Chairman, including inpatient, outpatient, and consultation/liaison activities.
- Assume additional responsibilities of Chairman during his absence including screening admissions with ED Crisis staff, writing admission orders, and assigning inpatient caseloads to other employed psychiatrists.
- Provide weekend and holiday per diem, face-to-face shift coverage for a total of at least four (4) weekends, including one 3-day holiday weekend (9 days total); duties include admitting and rounding on all patients on the inpatient psychiatric unit and consulting in the ED and the hospital at large as requested.
- Complete training in Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) as assigned by Chairman to prepare for providing ECT when clinically indicated.
- Participate in community education and scientific programs as may be assigned by the Chairman or the Overlook Medical Center President.
- Provide teaching sessions to internal medicine and family practice residents as assigned by Chairman.
Minimum Requirements:
- Licensed MD or DO in the State of New Jersey.
- Completion of an approved residency training program in adult psychiatry.
- Board certification in adult psychiatry.
