Tenna is searching for a seasoned Director of Hardware Products to lead the delivery of Tenna’s innovative hardware products, including telematics devices, GPS trackers, BLE beacons, and IoT products. Tenna offers a line of IoT hardware devices that enable our customers to automate the collection of telemetry data, and you will own this exciting product line. In this role, you will work closely with the Executive and Software Development Teams to translate our shared vision into execution. You will drive hardware product strategy, R&D, testing, quality control, timely delivery, troubleshooting, and market success. Your Responsibilities:- Oversees Tenna’s hardware product development and delivery process from concept to launch, ensuring adherence to project timelines, specifications, quality, and budget.
- Supports ongoing and new initiatives throughout the entire hardware product lifecycle, including functional documentation of existing applications and contributing to developing functional requirements for new applications and enhancements.
- Manages hardware product support and maintenance, including troubleshooting, issue resolution, and documentation updates.
- Diligently works with manufacturers to ensure hardware products meet quality standards and are delivered on schedule, within budget.
- Collaborates with the Executive Team to define and refine the hardware product vision, strategy, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Defines product and hardware use cases to meet the needs of our customers and the construction industry.
- Creates detailed product requirementsfor all Tenna hardware products, including epics and user stories.
- Manages hardware requirements by working closely with the Product Team, proactively recommending new hardware solutions based on market trends, customer needs, financial goals, supply chain constraints, and technical viability.
- Leads and manages the Hardware Engineering Team, providing guidance, mentorship, and support.
- Collaborates with Software Product Managers and the Software Development Team to ensure seamless hardware and software integration.
- Coordinates with the QA Team to facilitate thorough user acceptance testing (UAT) and ensures the timely resolution of defects.
- Works closely with stakeholders across the company, including Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success, to ensure alignment and achieve hardware product success.
- Collaborates with Tenna's internal Learning & Development team to create training materials and conduct end-user training sessions as needed.
- Conducts thorough market research and competitive analysis to identify trends and opportunities.
- Develops metrics to measure hardware product performance and compare against competitors.
Qualifications:- 10+ years of hands-on experience with hardware (mechanical or electrical).
- 5+ years in hardware product management. Demonstrated success in bringing hardware products to market within a fast-paced environment.
- 5+ years of experience leading and growing a product development team. Proven ability to motivate and develop talent.
- Must possess an in-depth understanding of hardware design, manufacturing, and delivery.
- Prior knowledge of GPS and Cellular networks is required. Knowledge of IoT devices and edge computing is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with software development, particularly firmware and device configurations, is preferred.
- Understanding of SQL, Analysis Services tools, SAS, and/or Reporting tools.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or a related STEM degree program is required or equivalent work experience.
- A self-motivated and adaptable person with a strong service orientation and a “do what it takes” attitude. Action-oriented and results-driven.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities: must effectively communicate with technical and non-technical people.
