Project Manager, Patient Safety & Regulatory Affairs
Position Summary
Reporting to the Chief of Regulatory Affairs in the Department of Regulatory Affairs & Patient Safety, the Project Manager for Patient Safety & Regulatory supports the department in coordination with hospital leadership, through management of projects related to patient safety and regulatory risks.
The department will utilize the Project Manager’s expertise to help prioritize projects, develop detailed project plans for major safety & regulatory initiatives, assist other members of the department in planning projects, and assure a structured, well-planned approach for successful outcomes & project completion.
Duties of the Project Manager for Patient Safety & Regulatory may include but are not limited to:
- Collaborates on and coordinates organization-wide efforts to develop and manage projects related to regulatory compliance and support regulatory responses to survey findings and reportable incidents.
- Participates in quality improvement projects as assigned, including Root Cause Analyses.
- Reviews, develops, and aligns policies across the network.
- Performs duties to help ensure a reliable and successful project implementation covering the total scope of the project.
- Tracks, reviews, and regulates the progress and performance of the project.
- Serves as a regulatory consultant across the network.
- Coordinates clinical meetings, including agenda setting, minute creation, and distribution for various committees as assigned.
- Serves as an expert on policies and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or other health profession required.
- Experience with one or more quality improvement models or methodologies (i.e., Lean, Six-Sigma, Model for Improvement/Plan-Do-Study-Act) required; certification in one of these disciplines is strongly desired.
- Three (3)+ years of work experience in a health care clinical, administrative, or project management role.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong data analytic skills.
- Strong group leadership and organization skills.
- Innovative thinking, facilitation, and consensus-building skills.
- Ability to work well both independently and as a part of a team.
Preferred:
- Master's Degree in Nursing or other health profession required.
- Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) and/or Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) preferred.
- Experience in an administrative or leadership role in a health care setting preferred, with a strong preference for hospital settings.

- Meet Regulatory Requirements for pre-employment screenings.
- Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).

Anticipated Pay Range: The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as - $101699 - $119646.
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents SBUH’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
In addition, all UUP positions have an additional $3,400 for location. Some positions offer shift differentials for Night ($3,700) & Evening ($2,500) as well as $575 for inconvenience for positions not on day shift.
