The Women’s Fund of the Greater Cincinnati Foundation’s mission, vision, and values are rooted in the promotion of economic self-sufficiency for all women in our region. Since its inception in 1995, the Fund has been at the forefront of efforts to improve the economic conditions for women, focusing on critical areas such as childcare, employment, equal pay, and women’s health. Today, the Fund continues to make impact by focusing on systems-level change through leadership, research, policy advocacy, and civic and community engagement.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Women’s Fund is seeking an Executive Director who can leverage our history of success and propel the Fund to new heights. The Executive Director will oversee all strategic and operational functions of the organization with a budget close to $1M. We desire a dynamic ED who is an innovative, inspiring, and bold leader with a deep commitment to both gender and racial equity.
The Executive Director will lead and convene thought, strategy, action, accountability, and fundraising efforts for the Fund. This position is expected to oversee the staff of the Women’s Fund and collaborate with key civic and community partners, and donors. Operating under the umbrella of the Greater Cincinnati Foundation (GCF), the Executive Director is an exempt (salaried) position employed by GCF. The Women’s Fund is advised by a volunteer Leadership Council and has several committees of volunteers who work to carry out the mission.

Strategic & Visionary Leadership
The ED will be a visionary and pragmatic leader with the courage to adapt and innovate while remaining grounded in the Fund’s mission and vision, modeling its values, and working alongside staff to achieve its goals. This individual will bring an understanding of what it means to lead an organization during a time of transformation and will be comfortable with shared governance and leadership. Forward-thinking, the ED will be able to boldly move the Fund to its next chapter.
Organizational Development & Excellence
The ED will bring experience developing an organization while applying an equity lens. This individual will understand and be able to build the infrastructure and support systems needed for staff to thrive in service of the mission. An inclusive, transparent, and unifying manager with shared leadership style, the ED will build trust with staff and establish clarity on roles, responsibilities, and targeted outcomes. This individual will demonstrate the ability to build, nurture, and retain a strong team of diverse professionals, as well as foster a collegial and inclusive work environment that encourages creativity and productivity and ensures staff feel a sense of belonging, respect, support, valued, and are given an opportunity to make meaningful contributions.
Fundraising & Relationship Building Skills
The Executive Director will be the driving force behind our philanthropic efforts, advancing all aspects of fundraising. The ideal candidate will excel in cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors, building strong relationships with both current and potential supporters. As The Fund aspires to achieve a $1,000,000 operating budget, this role requires active engagement with the community and local businesses to promote the Women’s Fund and inspire giving to sustain and expand our work. Additionally, the Executive Director will collaborate closely with staff to design and execute impactful campaigns, events, and appeals, demonstrating a relentless drive to enhance fundraising efforts and grow our donor base.
Excellent Communication Skills
Serving as a passionate ambassador for TWF, the ED will be able to thoughtfully and strategically articulate, inspire and motivate a diverse range of stakeholders around the mission, vision, and values. A respectful communicator and engaged listener, the ED will build strong relationships and trust with culturally specific community-based partners, business leaders and elected officials to develop community-informed strategies that maximize TWF’s positive impact in the community.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A passion for improving the lives of women and girls.
- Demonstrated experience in gender and/or racial equity.
- Proven experience in non-profit leadership and management.
- Proven track record of execution and delivering results.
- Keen intellectual curiosity and a desire for continuous learning of economic self-sufficiency issues and systems change.
- Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with diverse groups within TWF and the community.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to recruit volunteers from all areas of the community and to establish a diverse group of organizational participants.
- Strong public speaking experience.
- Strong organizational skills, especially budget planning and coordination.
- Experience in fundraising and major gifts preferred but not required.
- Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree (graduate degree preferred).
- Ability to function independently as well as part of a team.
This position is full-time, with attractive benefits, and is located at Greater Cincinnati Foundation. The Executive Director (ED) reports to the Chief Impact Officer of Greater Cincinnati Foundation and works under the leadership of the Women’s Fund Leadership Council.
