UNC Health Nash (UNC Nash) seeks a dynamic, results-driven, community-oriented leader to serve as the organization's next Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer (COO). This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious, talented operations leader to join a rapidly growing, rural health system passionate about providing high-quality care to the community.
Located in Rocky Mount, NC, UNC Nash is comprised of three licensed hospitals and 345 beds. As one of the largest employers in the area, UNC Nash employs more than 1,800 employees, including 180 physicians on active medical staff and over 700 registered nurses. With approximately $360 million in operating revenues, UNC Nash is recognized as a top performing hospital in the country after earning a four-star CMS rating and being recognized by Leapfrog with an "A" rating. The hospital was also recently recognized by Business North Carolina as one of the Top 25 Best Hospitals in the state for the third year in a row.
Reporting directly to the President and Chief Executive Officer of UNC Nash, the COO will play a key role in the successful implementation of the strategic plan and will have direct oversight of the following areas: cardiovascular services, imaging, cancer services, lab, inpatient rehab, and inpatient psych. They will partner closely with the senior team to improve operational and financial performance to achieve UNC Nash's short- and long-term goals and objectives. The COO will be charged with leading and driving operational efficiencies and performance improvement across UNC Nash and will further advance a culture of accountability and transparency.
The ideal candidate for this position will bring at least 5 years of progressive operational leadership experience in a hospital or health system recognized for exemplary quality, growth and sustained financial strength. Experience in a multi-site environment is preferred. The COO must be a contemporary thinker who has a passion for rural healthcare with a willingness to “roll up their sleeves” with population health strategies in partnership with grassroots community efforts. Additionally, candidates should have experience building internal and external partnerships, engaging with board members, and be viewed by others as a system thinker.
