Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree with two years’ experience in a mental health setting or
- Bachelor’s Degree with four years’ experience in a mental health setting as a specialist in the field of physical restoration, social adjustment, or vocational adjustment preferred or
- Two years of license preferred.
- Meet all state licensing and insurance requirements.
- Must pass DOJ, FBI and Child Abuse Index clearance
- Must have a valid California driver’s license and good driving record.
- Successful completion of LIC 503 Health Screening Report and TB clearance.
- Licensed or under the supervision of a licensed professional.
Knowledge of:
- BBS regulations, requirements and procedures.
- Diagnostic evaluation methods, mental status exams and use of the DSM-V.
Ability to:
- Provide clinically sound treatment services based on client needs and treatment plans.
- Respond to a range of clients’ needs using differential diagnoses and treatment approaches, primarily related to evidence-based practices.
- Provide appropriate crisis intervention services.
- Maintain clinical records in timely compliance with agency policies and procedures.
- Work collaboratively with other community agencies on behalf of clients and/or the agency.
- Demonstrate understanding of sound ethical practice in conjunction with the established and defined ethics of one’s training and discipline.
- Effectively organize time and responsibilities.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the STRTP mental health program’s compliance with DHCS regulations and applicable laws.
- Manage the clinical and administrative components of the STRTP mental health program.
- Maintain a safe, healthy, and therapeutic environment within the STRTP.
- Ensure each child admitted to the program has a mental health assessment.
- Ensure each child in the STRTP has commonality of needs with the other children in the STRTP, including whether the child’s presence is adverse to the safety or mental health needs of the child or other children in the STRTP.
- Ensure the mental health services identified on each treatment plan are provided and appropriate to meet the individual needs of the child.
- Monitor the quality of mental health services provided to the children.
- Arrange for children to receive mental health services, including transportation, that cannot be provided by the STRTP.
- Arrange for special provision of mental health services to children with disabilities including visual and auditory impairment.
- Ensure that documentation and recordkeeping requirements are met.
- Develop mental health staff schedules, training schedules, mental health treatment service schedules, medication schedules, and any other schedules for the operation of the STRTP mental health program.
- Maintain a time study, which indicates specific times spent at each facility.
- Manage program in compliance with mental health regulations and applicable laws.
- Provide clinical services such as intake/diagnostic evaluations, case evaluations and crisis intervention.
- Review intake summary for new clients into STRTP program within 5 days of placement.
- Review and sign clinical reviews every 90 days.
- Ensure compliance with related federal, state and local regulations, as well as departmental and county policies and procedures.
- Participate in liaison work with other agencies as required.
- Participate in regularly scheduled clinical supervision when appropriate.
- Participate in staff and CFT meetings as requested and established.
- Provide crisis intervention services as needed.
- Provide program-wide on-call support on a rotating schedule.
- Work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to bend at the waist, kneel, crouch, climb and balance.
- Must be able to read, write, and visually see clients.
- Must be able to hear with or without the use of hearing aid(s) sufficient to hear conversations with others, understandable voice, and speech patterns.
- Must be able to physically operate office equipment sufficiently as needed.
- Must be able to sit, stand and/or walk for extended periods of time.
- Must have use of hands to handle and/or feel; reach with hands and arms.
- Must frequently lift, push, pull or carry up to 25 lbs.
