St. Martin’s Lutheran Church, Annapolis, MD, is looking for an enthusiastic and congenial Director of Music Ministry (Organist/Choir Director) who will continue to grow the music ministry of the church. The ideal candidate is a skilled organist, pianist, and choir director who is familiar with, or is willing to learn, Lutheran liturgy and hymnody. The Music Director should have familiarity and comfort with a wide range of music, including classical, traditional, and contemporary worship music.
Duties include:
- Serving the congregation as organist and accompanist
- Selecting music for worship in cooperation with the pastor
- Directing the Chancel Choir (presently approx. 15 adult volunteer singers)
- Working as an active member of church staff
- Recruiting and leading musicians from the congregation
- Coordinating the music program
- Familiarity with equipment for projecting sound in the church facility and broadcasting live video on YouTube.

- College degree in related field (music preferred)
- Experience in leading a church music ministry (three to five years preferred)
Job type: 20 hours per week average, salaried

St. Martin’s Evangelical Lutheran Church (ELCA) is a vibrant, progressive medium-size congregation a short distance from downtown Annapolis and the United States Naval Academy. The church has a 31 rank Möller pipe organ, a set of 4 octave Schulmerich handbells, and a set of 3 octave chimes. Average attendance at St. Martin’s is 35 at the 8:00 a.m. service, 125 at the 10:00 a.m. service; and 94 on YouTube. St. Martin’s also has a pre-K to grade 8 school.
