Ascension St. Vincent Hospital-86th Street in Indiana is looking to hire a Chief Operating Officer to join our team!
Ascension St. Vincent Hospital is a large, 800-bed tertiary care hospital. The hospital is a Level-I trauma center and a referral hospital for the majority of rural Indiana. The hospital has seven floors and is fully equipped with all imaging, interventional Cardiology, interventional Radiology, and gastroenterology procedure capabilities. The hospital is home to a robust Graduate Medical Education department and residencies in Internal Medicine, Transitional Year, Family Medicine, Pediatrics, General Surgery, and OBGYN and offers fellowships in Cardiology, Geriatrics, Pulmonary/Critical Care Medicine and Sports Medicine.

Responsibilities
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Participates in development of the organization’s vision, policies and short and long-term objectives.
- Develops, implements and monitors operating budgets for areas of responsibility.
- Leads efforts to provide high quality, low cost operations within sites of care as well as day-to-day operations.
- Ensures that performance is aligned with Ascension’s practices and standards of operational excellence and determines interventions necessary to improve performance. Ability to use data and KPI Dashboards to monitor and improve operational performance.
- Direct experience and subject matter expertise in Healthcare Quality across the continuum of care. Ability to sponsor and lead process improvement initiatives. The ability to create inclusive teams that are active and enthusiastic participants in the successful implementation of quality and safety strategies and plans based on improving quality goals.
- Proficient knowledge and expertise in hospital and health care related quality, consumer experience, labor and productivity management, and performance improvement principles and practices, as well as regulatory and statutory requirements for quality improvement and patient safety in health care.
- Knowledge and experience managing hospital ancillary services including Imaging, Lab, Pharmacy, Facilities, Biomedical Engineering, and Environment and Food Services.
- Excellent physician relations skills. Strong ability in managing physician relationships and professional service contracts. Knowledge of physician contracting, employment, and compensation practices to support strong provider alignment. Proven ability to collaborate successfully with both employed and aligned independent provider groups.
- Ability to identify, develop, and champion growth strategies and tactics.
- Ability to identify capital project priorities and develop effective capital proposals and pro formas in collaboration with other leaders. Knowledge and ability to manage complex capital projects; ensuring good stewardship of organizational resources and effective successful completion of projects.
- Possess not only excellent organization, oral and written communication skills, but the ability to persuasively communicate project proposals, plans and status to key stakeholders.
- Proficient in clinical program development with strong leadership and teambuilding skills. Ability to mentor leaders and develop and grow leadership talent.
- Ability to resolve issues efficiently and effectively.

Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor's degree with 10 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required, with 5 of those years being in leadership/management.
- Master’s degree preferred.
Additional Preferences- 10 years of progressive healthcare operational leadership experience required.
- 5 or more years of executive-level experience preferred.
- Experience working in a large hospital environment is preferred.
- Proven ability to partner with providers required.
- High level of financial acumen required.
