SALARY RANGE : $110,000 to $121,000 commensurate with experience
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction and supervision of the Director of Field Operations, the Region Director has the responsibility for the in-field supervision of regionally assigned field staff personnel. This responsibility encompasses ensuring the effective and satisfactory performance by the staff assigned to the respective region.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Manage and supervise the activities of all staff personnel in the regional and satellite office(s) within their region.
- Manage region and satellite office procedures consistent with CSEA policy.
- Prepare annual budget and monitor quarterly financial reports.
- Indoctrinate, orient and train new field personnel.
- Ensure compliance with established CSEA policies and programs.
- Supervise campaigns (contract, privatization, membership, etc.).
- Ensure adherence to all directives from the Director of Field Operations.
- Ensure that all required reports are submitted on time.
- Review, evaluate and adjust where necessary, the assignment of field personnel.
- Evaluate on an ongoing basis the work of field staff under their supervision; including the evaluation of contract demands, negotiating techniques, ratification procedures, work contracts, grievances, disciplinary grievances and improper practices.
- Review expense vouchers and activity reports of assigned field staff.
- Act as CSEA representative to external organizations, coalitions and labor unions.
- Perform other related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Demonstrates a strong commitment to social justice and building the labor movement along with the ability to work well with a wide variety of people. The ability to organize and plan work. Possesses leadership skills to educate and motivate staff and members. Exercises sound judgment in complex situations. Must have strong public speaking skills and the ability to communicate effectively in writing.
Bachelor’s Degree in labor relations, public administration or other related field and three years experience negotiating contracts and contract administration.
OR
Associate’s Degree in a related field and five years of experience negotiating contracts and contract administration.
AND
Two (2) years satisfactory experience in a CSEA field position.
OR
A satisfactory equivalent combination of appropriate training and experience as determined by CSEA.
NOTE: Candidate must possess New York State driver's license and car for business use in order to be appointed.
