Job Overview
Senior Technical Instructors are responsible for developing and delivering training programs which support Komatsu’s product initiatives to our customers and internal personnel. The objective is to offer high-level technical knowledge to support P&H Mining Products/Systems, thus improving customer confidence and product reliability. Delivery of the courses will be offered in numerous venues and locations throughout the globe.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Development and evaluation of course content for relevant Komatsu and P&H Mining Products/Systems, including objectives, competencies, lesson plans, instructor guides, assessments, training materials, and hands-on lab exercises for in-house and field courses, following traditional design processes, such as ADDIE.
- Establish the means to deliver the developed training.
- Facilitate training events as scheduled, preparing materials, setting up the training site, and ensuring logistics for smooth training events.
- Refine and keep current with the latest course content via product improvement and industry standards needed for relevant and timely training.
- Assist in developing manuals as required.
- Assist in testing Komatsu and P&H Shovels, Drills, and Draglines when necessary.
- Qualify regional trainers as defined by the department’s plan.
- Assist with keeping the technical training lab components up to date and relevant for training purposes.
- Participate in personal job training to ensure and deliver relevant course content for the students.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Associate degree (A.S.) in Electrical Engineering Technology (EET), Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET), or bachelor’s degree in EET, Electrical Engineering (EE), MET, Mechanical Engineering (ME), or related military training/combination or relevant work experience.
- At least 5 – 10 years of experience in developing/conducting technical training programs, preferably for heavy equipment or mining applications.
- At least 5 – 7 years’ experience in heavy equipment operation and/or service-related work with mechanical systems maintenance and/or industrial control systems.
- Must be able to travel as necessary, domestic and international, with a valid passport.
- Hands-on experience with the systems to be taught and instructional techniques.
- Ability to demonstrate a positive attitude and motivate/influence groups.
- A self-starter who shows the ability to guide, mentor, and supervise.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, leading to practical application.
Additional Information
- Excellent computer and software skills as it pertains to training development and delivery, with proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel, and Word; knowledge of media development software products and tools preferred.
- Instructional design, adult education, and multimedia certification preferred.
- Verbal and written Spanish language skills are considered an asset.
- Ability to think outside of the box, challenge the status quo, and encourage continuous improvement in all training classes.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
