SAIC is seeking a Business Development (BD) Director to join SAIC’s fastest growing Business Group (BG) to focus principally on the Air Force Lifecycle Management Center (AFLCMC) Command, Control, Communications, Intelligence & Networks (C3I&N) Directorate (HN), and the Air Force Research Laboratories (AFRL) Information Directorate (SI), as well as more broadly across other AFLCMC and AFRL Directorates.
The Air Force and Combatant Commands (AFCC) BG has significant momentum with recent wins in foundational Advanced Battle Management System (ABMS) and Combined Joint All-Domain Command and Control (CJADC2) programs, building upon existing marquee programs like the Air Force (AF) Cloud One, AF Modeling and Simulation Support Services (AFMS3) and Secret And Below Releasable Environment (SABRE).
Besides responsibility for AFLCMC and AFRL strategy, the BD Professional is involved more broadly in strategy development across the AF and joint customers, including the AF CIO’s organization and 16th AF. This includes responsibility for identifying, qualifying, and assisting with the capture for a robust pipeline that supports the AFCC BG growth objectives. Additionally, the BD Professional is responsible for helping manage and guide development of pursuits to include shaping the acquisition strategy and developing a proposed solution in concert with a lead solutions architect, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and functional team of contracts managers, pricing analysts, estimators, etc. The BD Professional is involved in identifying, shaping and closing opportunities to grow current contracts with SAIC technology and innovations that meet our customers’ needs and advance national security objectives. Finally, this role informs future capability roadmaps to ensure SAIC differentiation for the broad EIT, Cloud and C5ISR capabilities, including Ux, cyber security, multi-cloud operations, multi-level security, automation, AI/ML etc.
The successful candidate will also have a desire to engage in program management, with a thirst for driving digital transformation to deliver best of breed technologies and innovative processes across successively larger, more complex Government organizations, and eventually managing a Profit & Loss (P&L) organization.

While the position is flexwork, viable candidates must live near Hanscom Air Force Base in Massachusetts as frequent interaction with Government customers located there is anticipated. Additionally, SAIC has a strategic partnership with the University of Massachusetts Lowell (UML) Research Institute which the candidate will be involved with.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Ability to assess organizational growth objectives and align them to defined opportunity targets to ensure a robust pipeline within AFLCMC/HN, AFRL/SI, and other AFLCMC and AFRL Directorates; manages assigned portfolio pipeline as the opportunity owner.
- Strong customer engagement skills and ability to communicate SAIC solutions and capability offerings to potential customers.
- Close interaction with AFCC BG team members, including operational leadership and SMEs, to build and execute call plans to position SAIC for successful pursuits.
- Supports developing teaming agreements and strategic alliances.
- Effectively engages with capture manager(s) and program manager/teams to ensure opportunity objectives and initial solutioning effectively transition into capture activities.
- Communicating resource needs and leveraging resources assigned is critical to the success of every business development professional.
- Collaborating with subject & technical matter experts, functional leads, and Program Managers.
- Gathers, assesses, and validates customer requirements working closely with Capture and Program Managers -- identifies related needs and constraints that impact winning solution.
- Assess probable competition and evaluates relative strengths and threats – conducts or assists with black-hats, competitive scenarios, etc.
- Participates in gate reviews, pricing, teaming, and capture reviews.
Qualifications:
Required Education:
- Bachelor's degree and 18+ years of experience; Master’s degree preferred.
Required Skills:
- Established relationships within the AFLCMC/HN Directorate; relationship within other Directorates (e.g. HB, WN, etc.), AFRL, AF CIO office and 16th AF a plus.
- Separated or retired Senior Officer preferred.
- Business experience with DoD customers with focus on innovation and technology insertion; understanding of advancements in technology and revolutionary concepts that offer potential enhancements or breakthroughs in military capabilities.
- In-depth understanding of Government and Air Force contracting environment, regulations and processes; knowledge of Foreign Military Sales (FMS) a plus.
- Joint Qualified Officer preferred.
Required Clearance:
- Secret clearance required.
- Top Secret clearance (with SCI eligibility) preferred.
- U.S. citizenship required.
