Position: US Head of Change

The role
Hiscox USA is looking for an experienced leader who can develop our change function to support the accelerating technology-driven business needs. We are in the process of transitioning to an agile, value stream-based delivery model, and building capabilities within the team to deliver on an ambitious, transformational agenda.
You are an established Change leader excited by the opportunity of leading the way through this journey by establishing and maturing value streams oriented to faster delivery of customer-centric products and change initiatives – increasing competitiveness, revenue, and better customer experiences.
The role requires a highly collaborative individual who will build strong relationships across the US Leadership Team (USLT) throughout the continuous cycle of strategy, business planning, review, and adaptive management; focusing clear drivers for change and creating lean business cases to support value stream focus and continued investment. The role holder will need to establish close working relationships with Hiscox Group portfolio management, and partner with finance and the CTO/IT team to ensure joined up planning.
Key responsibilities of this role
- Lead the USA Change team of approximately 20 colleagues, developing talent in all roles and creating a culture of empowerment and accountability.
- Mature the Change capability of Hiscox USA, developing the necessary skillsets and culture to enable a product mindset and support a scaled Agile model. Coach the USLT and senior leadership teams to lead successfully in this environment.
- Partner with USLT to ensure the change portfolio supports delivery of the business strategy and is effectively prioritized against the business needs. Ensure the desired change initiatives and value streams are aligned to the business strategy and adequately funded through the development of business cases.
- Develop and iterate on effective light-weight portfolio governance and high-quality reporting (including spend and benefits tracking) to clearly articulate value and empower teams to respond to change.
- Manage the Change budget in conjunction with the US Finance team to ensure all aspects of internal and external spend are managed and desired benefits are achieved.
- Ensure change incorporates UX and design thinking principles and stakeholder input, meeting the unique needs of our customers, brokers, and partners.
- Collaborate closely with the US CTO and US IT team, ensuring:
- a joint planning process that matches initiatives to capacity and capability to ensure a sustainable pace of change.
- congruence around risk, issue and dependency management and mitigation.
- integration of the Tech Blueprint into the roadmap to ensure technical excellence and operational resiliency.
- Oversee the complete end-to-end activity cycle and measure the success of that activity cycle, with high quality information and feedback loops that allow us to improve workflow and accelerate change over time.
- Create a team culture of continuous improvement, customer-centric innovation, and collaborative working.
- Collaborate with other Change teams across the Hiscox Group, sharing good practice, learning, and participating in the development of the Group Agile practice.
Must haves:
- Proven experience in leading Change functions and delivering continuous improvement.
- Sufficient understanding of enterprise IT and software development, including experience working with fixed price/outcome-based delivery arrangement with IT vendors.
- Demonstrable success in delivering high quality project portfolios that maximize outcomes for the business.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to negotiate with multiple conflicting stakeholder groups.
- Excellent knowledge of change and product management methodologies, particularly lean governance models, value stream portfolio management, ADKAR, and agile at scale. Strong leadership skills and experience in leading teams spread across multiple locations.
- Solid understanding of data analysis, budgeting, and business operations.
- Superior analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- A strong strategic and business mindset.

- Educated to degree level standard (not necessary with the right experience).
- Experience of working in a matrix environment.
- Background in designing / developing IT systems and planning IT implementation.

Salary range: $230k - $270k
The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.
