This DOF oversees the Accounting Department and maintains accounting standards within established policies and procedures. The Director of Finance reports to the hotel Managing Director and is a member of the Executive Committee.
QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, & WORK EXPERIENCE
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- College degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Four years experience as a hotel/resort Director of Finance.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Problem solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Exceptional organizational skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Maintain and secure assets, minimizing outstanding receivables, controlling cash, and maintaining inventories.
- Manage all operational budget and forecasts with Executive Committee members and General Manager.
- Prepare cash forecast on a weekly and monthly basis.
- Oversee preparation and submission of accurate and timely monthly financial statements.
- Develop, implement, support, and maintain financial internal controls in all departments in compliance with standards of procedures and policies of the organization.
- Maintain all contracts, leases, permits and licensing, as well as other legal and financial records.
- Operate in compliance with all local, state, and federal laws and government regulations.
- Maintain insurance (general liability, property, and worker’s compensation) programs.
- Manage all financial audits whether internal or external.
- Coordinate all internal financial training and development of department heads and managers.
- Prepare periodic presentations for owner’s meetings in conjunction with Executive Committee and/or General Manager.
- Manage all aspects of accounts receivable, accounts payable, general cashiering, and payroll processing.
- Prepare monthly financial statements for accuracy and submit per company policies and procedures.
- Responsible for monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
- Respond to any reasonable task assigned by Director of Financial Operations and General Manager.
- Attend and conduct meetings as required both within the department and within the hotel organizational structure.
- Ensure effective solution-oriented communication within the department and with other operation departments.
