Description
The Senior Lead Merchandiser (LM) is responsible for overseeing the merchandising of multiple Home Depot Garden Centers in a District. Responsibilities include merchandising to company standards, implementing store promotions, setting weekly ads, working in conjunction with their Market Manager to monitor inventory levels, ensure inventory accuracy, and support the on-boarding and coaching of new hires while achieving sales objectives in a timely manner. Lead Merchandisers are also responsible for ensuring the highest level of customer service throughout their Garden Centers. A Senior Lead Merchandiser is a role model to their merchandisers and must solve problems, make informed decisions, and manage their workforce and time wisely to achieve maximum results.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Assist the District Manager/Market Manager and HR Generalist in the recruitment and hiring of exceptional talent to meet staffing needs.
- Assist the DM/MM with maintenance and process of employees within the HRIS system with Client Access.
- Train and coach staff in the execution of daily tasks and best practices.
- Ensure required training is completed by store staff.
- Ensure ongoing work objectives are met through efficient management of time and resources.
- Provide constructive suggestions, encouragement, honest feedback, and expectations to staff.
- Manage issues relating to Garden Center maintenance and safety. Role model Bell safety practices and procedures and ensure incident/accident reporting and policy compliance.
- Ensure the correct interpretation, communication, and implementation of Bells Plan-O-Gram program as directed by leadership.
- Ensure that proper channels of communication exist between Bell Nursery, our client, and vendor partners.
- Ensure staff compliance with established Company policies and standards.
- Proactively help identify and solve problems that affect the Garden Centers' efficiency, productivity, and overall service.
- Work with merchandising staff regarding all aspects of responsibilities including signing product for all sales and Home Depot ads and merchandising for all third-party vendor product.
- Stock tables and displays with merchandise while keeping the garden center in order and plan-o-gram compliant.
- Assist with the movement of product from delivery trucks to the sale floor.
- Support store personnel and assume other activities as needed.
Any other tasks as directed by leadership.

- A basic knowledge of plants and gardening or an interest in learning about plants and gardening. Candidate must be able to understand how to merchandise live goods or be willing to learn.
Requirements
- Flexibility to work varied schedules including one weekend day and holidays.
- The ability to communicate effectively with Hopewell team members and The Home Depot management and associates.
- Candidate must be able to stand for long periods of time and be able to lift up to 50 pounds throughout the day.
- Reliable transportation.
- Willingness to work in all types of weather.
- Retail management preferred.
- Ability to travel to and manage multiple sites.
- Strong interpersonal, motivating, organizational, and follow-through skills.
- Basic computer skills including MS Office, smartphone technology, and applications. Must have personal Smartphone with a current operating system: Android 5.0 or above, or Apple IOS 7.0 and above for daily communications with supervisor.
- Basic knowledge of horticulture and gardening preferred but not required.
- High School Diploma.
