YOU
The Director, Product Management, is a Product leader for the Residential Division. In this role, you’ll lead groups of product managers and help them craft the multiyear vision and roadmap for our Residential software platform and their individual product lines. You’ll meet with various customers such as national and regional home builders, lumber and building material suppliers, and general contractors to understand their business and solution requirements. You will also meet with our field teams and collaborate across the business with stakeholders and executives to design the future of how we can leverage technology like AI/ML to accelerate time to value for our customers. Successful candidates are industry experts who can easily jump between Product, Engineering, Customer Success, Sales, and Marketing.
This position will report to our Senior Director of Product Management and can work remotely from a US or Canadian location or in one of our physical locations in Texas, California, Colorado, or Indiana. We’re looking for someone to join our team immediately.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING (% of Time)
- Lead a team of Product Managers and/or Group Product Managers across the entire Residential Software product line to develop and execute a product strategy that drives growth for our customers and delivers the outcomes that meet our business goals. (30%)
- Work closely with product stakeholders in sales, customer success, product marketing, field implementation, and the executive team to identify opportunities for your products that enhance customer value and drive positive outcomes for Simpson Strong Tie. This also includes communicating frequently and often with key stakeholders to maintain alignment, which might on occasion require a “disagree but commit” approach. (30%)
- This role will be responsible for the strategic vision, design, and execution across all digital products in the Residential Division. (20%)
- Develop Product Management best practices for your division that includes leading and coaching empowered product teams that identify problems to solve, granting the independence to solve them, and managing accountability for their solutions. This includes product strategy development, qualitative and quantitative research, customer engagement & research, and product discovery. (20%)
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university or equivalent work experience required
- Minimum of 10 years of experience building, delivering, or supporting successful technology products
- Minimum of 5 years of experience leading, managing, and/or coaching Product Managers
- Must have demonstrated success with creating and growing a technical product line or business segment, or department.
- Must have a track record of completing projects on-time and being accountable for commitments made to management. May make significant departures from traditional approaches to develop solutions.
- Familiarity with computer aided design software (CAD) or Computer aided design alternative software or BIM software preferred
- Familiarity with software and business practices associated with the residential building market preferred
- Product Management: Must be well versed in the various skills, techniques and approaches used in software Product Management including problem ideation, product strategy development, product discovery, empowered product teams, stakeholder management and data driven hypothesis testing.
- Vision: Demonstrated ability to evangelize opportunities and build alignment within a large organization
- Communication/Team Collaboration: Ability to communicate effectively with all areas of the company and facilitate discussions and debate, mediate conflict, and nurture a collaborative, cross-functional team. Expert-level ability to work with go-to-market teams
- Financial Planning and Analysis: Expert understanding of business financials and how to develop compelling business cases.
- Language: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Reasoning: Hypothesis-driven and data-driven product thinking. Ability to leverage strong problem-solving and analytical skills to help evolve, improve, and transform our products and our business.

Pay
$135,400 - $276,300 / year
- Posted pay range is based upon national average and may vary depending on geographical work location.
