Organization Summary: NERDiT CARES is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization headquartered in Wilmington Delaware. Our mission is to close the digital divide by providing access to technology and education that can help residents obtain gainful employment in the IT-sector. To further this mission, NERDiT CARES develops and provides free training programs that teach and certify residents with the skills of an IT-professional. These programs help participants secure IT credentials that can help graduates get family-sustaining jobs. Additionally, NERDiT CARES donates hundreds of devices each year to schools, non-profit organizations, community facilities, and residents to improve digital access. Currently, our organization serves the entire State of Delaware with future plans to increase our service-coverage to the Greater Philadelphia area.

Job Description: Our organization is seeking a strong, experienced Executive Director who will oversee the growth of our dynamic organization. The Executive Director will directly oversee operations, direct all fundraising efforts, and design and implement a growth strategy for the organization. This is a full-time, salary job position that is expected to be in-person at our Wilmington Delaware Headquarters Office. Some travel around the New Castle DE area may be required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the planning, organizing, and directing the organization’s operations and programs.
- Work with staff to design technology-focused and credential-certifying curriculum for the IT-sector.
- Ensure Program Instructors maintain certifications to instruct classes.
- Recruit participants for workforce development programs.
- Oversee Career Development outcomes for each workforce cohort and build and maintain relationships with local employers who can employ graduates.
- Ensure compliance requirements and reporting for all sources of the organization’s funding, including compliance with city, state, and federal funding are met.
- Build and maintain a robust program for donating technology to communities without access.
- Lead fundraising efforts with a minimum fundraising goal of $350,000.00 per year from a combination of individual, corporate, foundations, and government contributions.
- Act as the public representative of the organization to establish a strong, trusted, and respected public profile.
- Design and implement strategies that will grow the reach of the organization across the State of Delaware and beyond.
- Implement and ensure compliance with all internal policies set by the Board of Directors and, at times, propose revisions or amendments.
- Provide regular updates on the financial health, performance, and progress of the organization in meeting its goals at monthly Board of Director meetings.
- Develop data capturing mechanisms and annually report the impact of the organization’s community programs to external stakeholders.
- Manage employees and vendors.
- Oversee the recruitment, hiring and training of new employees.
Requirements and Skills of a Successful Candidate:
- Previous experience serving in an executive role in a non-profit organization with a budget of $500,000+
- 5+ Years of Non-Profit Operations
- Experience successfully writing for and obtaining grant funding from a variety of sources including government.
- A track record of successfully managing small, flexible, but organized teams.
- Excellent communication skills (both oral and written)
- Strategic Planning Experience
- Compliance experience – experience complying and reporting with the requirements of government grants.
- Strong financial skills – understanding budgets, corporate finance and performance measurements.
- Knowledge of the non-profit and/or technology industry in Delaware and/or the Greater Philadelphia area is a plus.
- Existing relationships with funders is a plus.
- Knowledge of workforce development programs or experience managing workforce development/career development programs is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft and Google Suite Products.
