Job Summary/Position Overview:
The Area Director of Business Development is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive external sale and marketing plan that builds the Arbor brand, drives referrals and increases revenue while gaining market share. A large emphasis of business development is to educate and partner with key sources including professional medical community, community associations, and related providers. The Area Director of Business Development works with the Community Sales Director and Executive Directors to assess the local market to develop a strategic marketing plan tailored to the geographic region in which the community is located.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create and implement a successful external business development sales and marketing strategy
- Monitor external and internal environment for development of new market niches and future possibilities for Arbor to stand out boldly in the market
- Generate leads and move-ins from targeted external referral sources
- Identify new opportunities for leads through education, collaboration with external partners and brand promotion
- Increase professional referrals and work with teams to remove potential barriers
- Meet regularly with the Vice President of Sales to provide information, updates, and reports on a timely basis
- Perform public speaking to volunteer organizations and committees regarding Arbor and our different and better story
- Complete weekly strategic plan reports
- Significant local travel for sales and marketing opportunities, including external sales commitments and after-hours engagements
- Other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- At least three years’ experience in senior living sales with a proven track record of success in growing occupancy, revenue, and metrics
- Ability to develop creative and strategic plans that incorporate outreach development and purposeful event planning
- Awareness of issues and trends affecting the industry
- Basic knowledge of, and increasing competency with, computer systems, particularly Outlook, Excel and Word and use of a CRM system
- Valid driver’s license and safe driving record
- Compliance with Arbor community-wide job requirements
