The Corporate Planning & Management (CPM) Division unifies Finance & Planning, Spend Management, Operational Risk and Resilience, and CPM Engineering teams to deliver business planning and analytics, expense management, third-party risk management, and governance strategies across the firm. CPM has 5 operating pillars.
Finance & Planning supports the execution of the firm’s strategic objectives through the management of the planning process, firmwide reporting and analytics, and insights into the firm’s business plans and budgets. They develop a consistent framework for revenue division projections creating transparency, accountability, and efficiency around projections. This pillar also includes the CF&O, EO and Engineering divisional CFOs, who are strategic finance advisors helping the firm and the non-revenue divisions achieve commercial financial opportunities. Product Finance is responsible for the overall governance and proactive management of the firm’s non-compensation expenses. Spend Management encompasses the functions responsible for managing all aspects of the firm's spend with third parties - advising commercial agreements and driving operating efficiency. Departments include Strategic Sourcing, Procure to Pay, Integrated Travel and Expense, Infrastructure and Transformation, and Sustainable Operations. Operational Risk & Resilience drives firmwide Operational Risk programs along with second line teams and implements required changes within CPM. The Corporate Insurance & Advisory team in this pillar identifies, procures, and manages corporate insurance needs for the firm and its investing businesses. The CPM Engineering team provides engineering solutions that enable the firm to manage third-party spend, data and automation, plan budgets, forecast financial scenarios, allocate expenses, and support corporate decision-making in line with the firm’s strategic objectives.
Role Overview
Professionals in CPM have an analytical mindset, exhibit intellectual curiosity, and come from diverse academic backgrounds. This role sits within the Spend Management pillar, within Strategic Sourcing.
The Strategic Sourcing team is responsible for driving the execution of strategic priorities, including the firm’s operational efficiency and supplier diversity targets, as it relates to the Firm’s relationships with vendors. We partner with firmwide leadership as well as various stakeholders across the firm on all Sourceable spend across categories such as Technology, Professional Services, Corporate Solutions including Real Estate, HCM, Travel, Legal, and Marketing. As a result, we are actively involved in the entirety of the vendor relationship lifecycle – from source to payment.
Within the Strategic Sourcing Team, Sourcing Operations is responsible for the operational governance of the Sourcing and Contracting process & daily execution for the firm. The primary role of Sourcing Operations is to govern the discovery, intake, preapproval and contracting process across all spend channels and then to accurately and completely digitize firm commitments to allow purchasing and enable invoice to contract compliance. The Sourcing Operations team was established 18 months ago and is now entering the next phase of its evolution. We are looking to accelerate from a strong foundation to drive greater spend under management, a clearer linkage between Sourcing Category Strategy and Operational execution, and to ensure our contract and purchasing controls and vendor risk management framework is strengthened.
Core Sourcing Operations
Job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Lead a global team responsible for the digitization of firmwide commitment and preapproval governance.
- Own the Outsourced Vendor relationship for core Sourcing Operations, managing the budget, KPIs, performance, and resource allocation of the vendor.
- Through deep partnership with our P2P Operations Team, create analysis and dashboarding linked to operational health, pending transactions, queue management, and risk management to ensure process health transparency and E2E workflow performance.
- Serve as an advisor to the business & sourcing category managers in the areas of how best to operationalize their spend commitments across the various platforms and approaches and monitor/drive compliance to spend channel utilization.
- Partner with the Product Strategy team to provide requirements, inputs, themes, and requests for the technology which underpins the Sourcing Operations process.
Tactical Sourcing Leadership
Job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Oversee the creation and scaling of a new Tactical Sourcing function, partnering with Sourcing Category leads to establish the framework and operating model, KPIs, SLAs, etc to enable ROI evidencing.
- Serve as an escalation point for contract and commercial negotiations for low value/low risk projects, while following vendor engagement model and adhering to firm’s vendor-related policies and practices.
- Collaborate with various risk management partners, such as Legal, Finance, Information Security, Compliance, and others to ensure firm's vendor management policies and procedures are adhered to.
- Responsible for tracking of and reporting on strategic vendor management activities, spend, and other trends of strategic vendors, understanding impact across firm/business units.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- 8-10+ years of operational leadership experience in a Financial Services or regulated industry with 6-8 years of experience in Sourcing Operations, Procurement Operations or similar.
- 8+ years of leading people across geographies and levels of experience.
- Experience within the Strategic Sourcing space, either as a Strategic Sourcing category lead, or in a deep SME role within a Sourcing Operations function.
- Strong platform experience with SAP Source to Pay tooling (Ariba, S4 HANA, Fieldglass, Guided Buying).
- Proven experience in change management and implementing change both in terms of process and technology.
- Experience of Agile change management and platforms like JIRA and Confluence or similar would be beneficial.
- Flexible and focused work ethic to deliver in a global organization delivering both organizational and technical system changes.
- Strong analytical skills and bias for using data to make decisions and confirm/set direction.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to interact effectively with cross-functional teams & present to senior leadership.
- Ability to work across hierarchies and geographies, with a flexible working style.
