The Managing Director, Ocean Product will focus on developing and maintaining strategic partnerships with new or existing customers. Strategically develop solutions that precisely meet customers' needs and drive optimal sales and profits. This role focuses on sales full array of valued added services. Identifies key trends for ocean and freight forward industry to determine new sales opportunities. Monitors competitor actions to ensure that appropriate responses are formulated and communicated.
As Managing Director, you will lead a team focused on selling ocean and freight forward solutions. Help develop a team to establish strategic partnerships for the company's ocean and freight forward business. Demonstrate an agile mindset, led by example, and embrace change, emphasizing attentive listening to business objectives. Focus on customer accounts on a global scale, driving growth through high-level strategies and leading the account growth for effective execution.
Prospecting of target customers through proactive networking and leveraging existing relationships within the broader FedEx enterprise. Developing the sales strategy for the deployment of the Company's services to customer opportunities within ocean and freight forwarding business. Ensures attainment of revenue and margin/yield goals for assigned accounts. Address sales growth activities, competitive pricing strategies and strategies globally. Engage with the team to assess customer satisfaction, review critical situations with at-risk accounts, and ensure a proactive approach to customer needs. Provides leadership oversight to the management sales team in Ocean and freight forward by ensuring they are focused on goals and objectives and achieving performance expectations. Provides coaching and counseling to direct reports, being proactive to identify potential issues and developing action plan to the ocean/freight forward sales team.
Provides leadership in using Quality Driven Management techniques within the business, encouraging use of analysis to drive decision-making and development of improvements. Ensures team understands expectations and how information is reported and used. Actively participates in leadership development activities, including succession planning, coaching, and individual development planning within span of control.
Performs all other duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree/equivalent and 10 years in ocean and freight forward sales experience plus 5 years of relevant experience leading a team is required. Experience selling to C-Suite Executives is highly preferred. Proven experience with logistics processes, solutions and project management. Strong understanding of ocean freight import process from issuance to final delivery. Experience in driving enterprise-wide initiatives, while managing a specific sales team. Proven sales leadership with a demonstrated track record of performance and budget achievements and at least five years of broad-based, progressive commercial management experience. Demonstrated ability to develop, maintain and grow customer relationships. Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to relate both up and down the client's table of organization. Strong network of contacts in the logistics, transportation and/or retail industries. A proven track record of mentoring and developing direct reports and subordinates.

Pay Transparency: This compensation range is provided as a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary range for this role across all potential locations. If this opportunity includes multiple job levels, the salary information represents the job level minimum and the job level maximum. Actual starting pay would be determined by experience relative to the job, market level, pay at the location for this job and other job-related factors permitted by law.
Pay: 165,600.00-312,000.00
