The Role
Join us as the Director of Microsoft Global Alliance Business Development for Mainframe Modernization and become an integral part of Kyndryl’s growth story. The ideal candidate will lead our global demand generation initiatives, accelerate our partnership with Microsoft, and bring innovation to our Microsoft solutions related to transformation of Mainframes and Midrange Systems. Kyndryl is the market leader in services for enterprise infrastructure (mainframe and midrange systems), and a top-tier managed global service integration partner for Microsoft, which makes us uniquely positioned to be the fastest growing and largest services provider for enterprise infrastructure transformation.
Using a growth mindset, the Director of Microsoft Global Alliance Business Development for Mainframe Modernization will:
- Cultivate strategic relationships with Microsoft, both business and technical, that help our partnership generate new opportunities around mainframe, midrange and legacy application transformation.
- Engage globally with Kyndryl's account teams, regional alliance teams, sales, solutioning, practice, and delivery organizations to drive transformation of mainframe, midrange, and legacy applications residing on these systems.
- Work across Kyndryl and Microsoft’s partner ecosystem to generate differentiated value for our customers by combining the unique capabilities of Kyndryl + Microsoft + other ecosystem partners that specialize in mainframe modernization using cloud-based services.
- Create compelling content, establish unique sales acceleration programs, drive enablement (business and technical), and execute business development activities that help Kyndryl’s go-to-market organizations, and their customers adopt cloud services for the mainframe.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of developing and executing business and partner co-sell strategies that drive substantial business results, coupled with a deep understanding of the Microsoft Cloud, mainframes, midrange systems, and the technology ecosystem that supports transformation of enterprise infrastructure. They will have prior experience working in global business development or sales roles and can adapt to cultural needs which may vary from country to country. They will have extensive experience engaging with Microsoft’s partner and client organizations and know how to leverage incentives and go-to-market programs that create differentiated value propositions for our mutual customers. And, they will be willing to travel globally as needed to stimulate growth in priority countries, inject best practices, offer subject matter expertise, and engage with customers where additional high touch engagement is required.

Required Skills and Experience
- 8+ years’ experience in a business development or sales role for a cloud services company.
- Extensive knowledge of mainframes, midrange systems, and the industry applications that generally run on these enterprise systems.
- Extensive knowledge and experience working with the Microsoft Cloud, especially in the areas of Data, AI, Security, Application Services, and Infrastructure Services.
- Prior experience helping large customers or companies leverage the cloud or hybrid cloud to modernize their mainframe and midrange infrastructure – integrating with the cloud, transforming with the cloud, and moving off to the cloud.
- Existing relationships with Microsoft, such as global and regional executives, product/engineering teams, partner teams, and client executives.
- Highly effective, passionate, and charismatic communicator in both technical and business domains with a proven track record of driving growth through a global partnership or alliances organization.
- Impeccable and engaging presentation skills for a variety of topics with an ability to adapt to a variety of different audiences and cultural backgrounds.
- Deep understanding of emerging trends, cloud technologies, cloud trends, and other emerging technologies with an applied understanding of how they can be adopted by companies undergoing business and digital transformation for mainframes and midrange systems.
- Deep understanding of leading hyperscalers (Microsoft, AWS, Google), their related services for mainframe and midrange systems, and competitive capabilities from other Global Service Integrators.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience designing, solutioning and selling transformational solutions to Fortune 500 where mainframe and midrange systems are at the core of their IT infrastructure.
- Active Microsoft Cloud certifications in areas like Azure Solutions Architect, Azure AI, Azure Security, Azure Data, Azure Networking, etc.
- Experience leading transformational sales programs and projects, driving gamification, and advancing large scale skilling initiatives.
- Business and technical enablement across global teams through 1:1 and 1:many sessions.
- Comfortable engaging with business leaders, technical leaders, marketing leaders, sales leaders, developers, and innovators.
Compensation
The compensation range for the position in the U.S. is - $151,560 to $272,760 based on a full-time schedule. Your actual compensation may vary depending on your geography, job-related skills and experience. For part time roles, the compensation will be adjusted appropriately. The pay or salary range will not be below any applicable state, city or local minimum wage requirement.
There is a different applicable compensation range for the following work locations:
- California: $166,680 to $327,240
- Colorado: $151,560 to $272,760
- New York City: $181,800 to $327,240
- Washington: $166,680 to $300,120
- Washington DC: $166,680 to $300,120
This position will be eligible for Kyndryl’s discretionary annual bonus program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Kyndryl’s applicable plans. You may also receive a comprehensive benefits package which includes medical and dental coverage, disability, retirement benefits, paid leave, and paid time off. Note: If this is a sales commission eligible role, you will be eligible to participate in a sales commission plan in lieu of the annual discretionary bonus program.
