Experience
15+ years leading a technical organization, including 5+ years of business leadership with the defense technology industry and experience running a P&L.
Minimum Education
Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related field, Masters or PhD desired.
Compensation Range
$200k - $320k; eligible for restricted stock units. Total compensation package of base salary and equity to be determined based upon experience and education.

nLIGHT DEFENSE Systems Inc. is seeking a dynamic and results-oriented business leader to spearhead and lead our Technology, R&D, and Business Development lines of business within nLIGHT DEFENSE Systems, Inc. Reporting into the nLIGHT, Inc. President/CEO, this role offers a unique opportunity to drive operational excellence, strategic growth, and profitability within a cutting-edge organization. Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute the company’s overall strategic plan, aligning business objectives with government priorities and market opportunities.
- Technology and R&D: Foster a culture of innovation and drive the continued development of cutting-edge technologies to support our business growth. Build and lead high-performing technology and R&D teams.
- Team Building and Development: Develop and retain top talent across approximately 100-person growing organization. Create a high-performance culture focused on collaboration, accountability, and results.
- Contract Acquisition and Management: Lead the capture and pursuit of new government contracts, ensuring compliance with all federal regulations and requirements. Oversee contract execution and performance to meet customer expectations and deliver exceptional value.
- Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with government clients, industry partners, and key stakeholders.
- Financial Performance: Oversee financial performance including budgeting, forecasting, and profitability. Drive revenue growth and optimize operational efficiency. P&L management experience.
- Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand the company’s market presence and revenue streams.

- 15+ years of experience leading technical organizations in a technology, R&D, and business development capacity with at least 5 years of business leadership experience in the defense industry.
- Extensive experience in leading and managing complex technology, R&D, and business development organizations.
- Proven track record of success in delivering hardware capabilities to DoD customers.
- Deep understanding of DoD contracting requirements.
- Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and motivate high-performing teams working on multiple critical projects.
- Demonstrated ability to drive organizational growth and designing organization for success.
- Strong business acumen, including financial management, strategic planning, and operational excellence.
- Developing people.
Additional Desired Experience / Capability
- Experience with Microsoft Office GCC High.
- Experience with Earned Value Management.
- Opto-mechanical technology experience.
