The General Manager will work under the direction of the Chairman of the Demopolis Water Works and Sewer Board. He or she will oversee the day to day operations for the Water Works and Sewer Board and work with all departments to insure compliance for the Water and Sewer System. The General Manager will need to be able to interact with State (ADEM) and Federal (EPA) and local agencies to assist in compliance.The General Manager is expected to work with the Office Manager to review financials, prepare budgets and stay within those budgets. Responsible for repair and maintenance on water mains and sewer lines. Help with the decision making in the field, work with the crew during heavy job loads and make sure the crew runs efficiently. Deal with customer service as needed.General Manager will see to the proper operation and maintenance of all mechanical equipment and treatment processes involved in the Water Distribution system and the Wastewater Treatment system for the Demopolis Waterworks. Will supervise the Water and Wastewater treatment plant operator and perform general maintenance of electrical motors, pumps, UV system, chlorine feed, SCADA and other equipment used in the operation of a Water Distribution and Wastewater Treatment system including Wells and Wastewater Pumping Stations.Education:- Bachelor's Degree - An Alabama Grade III or higher Wastewater as well as Grade II Water Certification or able to take and pass the needed certifications within 6 month of hire date.Job Qualifications:- Valid Alabama Driver's License, insurable under The Water Works and Sewer Board of the Demopolis Knowledge of electric motors and pumps also desired. - Willing to work nonstandard hours and more than 40 hours per week if needed. - Must be Available for Call Out. - Successful applicant is required to take and pass pre-employment and drug test. Must reside within a 30-minute call in range of the City of Demopolis.
