Summary:
In this role, you will engage in multifaceted activities to improve software engineering practices, develop people, and manage staffing. You will ensure teams utilize best practices and technologies, allocate resources efficiently, and assign staff based on project needs and career goals. You will take a leadership role by recruiting top talent, fostering a collaborative culture, and providing performance feedback. You will stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, guide teams on tool selection, and promote continuous improvement within the engineering department.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure teams use best practices, technologies, and engineering methods.
- Guide teams on development tool selection and standardization.
- Measure and improve adoption of engineering practices across teams.
- Establish, influence, and evaluate core engineering practices.
- Support engineering guilds in promoting best practices and innovation.
- Recruit, hire, and onboard top engineering talent.
- Develop and implement training programs for direct reports.
- Conduct 1-on-1 meetings and performance reviews.
- Provide feedback using 360-degree feedback methods.
- Foster a collaborative, innovative, and inclusive culture.
- Ensure optimal allocation of resources for current and upcoming projects.
- Assign people to teams based on project needs and career goals.
- Facilitate upskilling based on project requirements.
- Remove obstacles related to people or engineering practices that hinder progress.
- Manage contingent staffing partnerships to supplement full-time staff engineers.
Qualifications:
- Relevant degree in computer science, software engineering or related preferred.
- 7 or more years of relevant progressive experience required.
- Experience leading and managing software engineering teams is required.
- Strong understanding of agile software development methodologies required.
- Knowledge of various programming languages, databases, frameworks, cloud technologies and tools required.
- Strong communication and presentation skills required.
- You must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Estimated Hiring Range:
At Vizient, we consider skills, experience, and organizational needs in our compensation approach. Geographic factors may adjust the range estimate and hires typically fall below the top range. Compensation decisions are tailored to individual circumstances. The current salary range for this role is $117,600.00 to $194,200.00.
This position is also incentive eligible.
