DESCRIPTION
The Assistant Director- Broadcast Operations will participate in broadcast productions and related services for UC San Diego Athletics program. Participate in overseeing production of live events as well as various other related content for stakeholders such as Big West Conference rightsholders ESPN+, Spectrum Sports & other related entities.
Responsible for creating high quality, broadcast standard content, scheduling and training student and contract production staff, and producing video display content for all events. Oversee all students, interns, and aid in the recruiting of new staff. The Assistant Director will need to produce video content and messaging during a transformative time for UC San Diego Athletics, and should possess the experience and skillset to interact with a broad spectrum of internal and external constituencies. The incumbent will follow the athletic philosophy consistent with that of the UC San Diego Athletic Department and NCAA, and a commitment to diversity in all its forms.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A Bachelor’s degree in media design, multimedia, cinematography, digital arts, audio/video technology, communications or a related field.
- Ability to follow the athletic philosophy consistent with that of the UC San Diego Athletic Department and NCAA, and a commitment to diversity in all of its forms.
- Understanding and adherence to all Big West Conference and NCAA rules and regulations.
- Thorough knowledge / understanding of relevant technology, including methods of broadcast operations.
- Knowledge of video broadcasting techniques as well as proficiency with video production software. Proficiency with Ross, Newtek and Microsoft Office software. Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud programs.
- Thorough knowledge of various types of programming.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience directing live event production, the creative video production process, camera operation, different camera and lens types, proper filming techniques, lighting design, audio production and the post-production process.
- Thorough written, research, editing, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact in a positive manner with diverse clientele.
- Thorough organizational skills. Must be highly motivated, energetic, be able to balance multiple tasks, produce high-quality work on tight deadlines, be detail-oriented with ability to manage heavy load of deliverables.
- Problem-solving skills; multi-task, work with frequent interruptions, and effective listener.
- Ability to train, motivate, schedule, and evaluate student employees, interns and volunteers; to delegate tasks; to schedule sufficient staffing for simultaneous athletic events.

PAY TRANSPARENCY ACT
Annual Full Pay Range: $77,000 - $139,200 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $36.88 - $66.67
