As a Medical Director for Pharmacy Services, you will be joining team safety huddles, meeting with key team members on current projects, and leading meetings that involve clinical quality/performance improvement. You will oversee the review of quality of care concerns with either transfers or medication safety events (when needed) and interact with dyad partners daily (Sr Director of Transfer Services and Sr. Director Clinical Pharmacy).
Looking for someone with experience in Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine (Hospitalist), or Intensivist provider, though open to others. Prefer a provider with some type of leadership experience; examples include Lead Hospitalist, Chief of Staff, Medical Director, Department Chair, etc. Must have experience working collaboratively and leading projects with multi-disciplinary teams, including nurses, pharmacists, and therapists. Strong communication skills are essential, both verbally and via email, along with experience in conflict resolution and crucial conversations. Experience interacting with C Suite members to resolve issues, such as Chief Medical Officer or Chief Nursing Officer, is required. Experience leveraging data to review current performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and create action plans to improve performance is also necessary.
Your Remote schedule will primarily be Monday-Friday, Part-Time 24 hours a week, Arizona business hours. In rare cases, you may need to be available on evenings or weekends.

POSITION SUMMARY
This position provides strategic leadership and works with management, staff, and other physicians to improve patient safety, error reduction, and appropriateness and quality of patient care. Intervenes with other physicians when quality, utilization, and/or behavior are problematic. Maintains effective working relationships with all parties and acts as administrative clinical liaison, interfacing with physician leaders and other leaders who are internal and external to Banner Health and program development. Provides education for physicians, allied health professionals, and staff.
CORE FUNCTIONS
- Serves as the senior clinician for the URAC certified specialty pharmacy.
- Provides leadership in strategy, planning, and implementation of goals and objectives. Collaborates with pharmacy management, staff, and physicians in these efforts.
- Identifies opportunities for performance improvement related to patient safety, error reduction, and appropriateness and quality of patient care.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with physicians, staff, and management.
- Performs administrative tasks, which may include acting as a resource addressing strategic initiatives and evaluation of equipment and supplies.
- Ensures and fosters a high level of collaboration within a highly matrixed team environment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Medical Doctorate or Doctor of Osteopathy degree required along with appropriate board certification or qualifications.
Must be eligible for or hold a current state medical license and be a member in good standing of the Medical Staff.
Experience with organized medical staff, managed care organizations, and continuous quality improvement preferred.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
