We’re seeking an Area Director of Operations to join our New York Operations team. The Area Director of Operations will oversee General Managers in assigned properties and directly report into the Regional VP, Operations.
What You’ll Do:
The Area Director of Operations is responsible for all aspects of the conference and workplace operations at multiple Convene locations. This role directs, implements and maintains the service, technology, production, and culinary philosophy which serves as a guide to respective staff to ensure 100% client satisfaction. In addition, the Area Director of Operations oversees all aspects of the Locations/Property Management in accordance with Convene’s vision, mission and values.
- Directly responsible for multi-property operations to include guest/client services; technology, facility maintenance, sales, food and beverage and human resources.
- Responsible for the employees of assigned properties and their success in company driven goals inclusive of financials, employee engagement, client satisfaction and revenue.
- Work in conjunction with the Property Leaders and managers to ensure resolution to all guest/client and employee related challenges or concerns across department lines while adhering to the property and Convene policies.
- Responsible for hiring, training, reviewing and disciplining property leads and departmental managers up to and including termination.
- Responsible for building and fostering a cohesive, healthy and collaborative team culture.
- Ensure all employment laws are followed and employee paperwork is filled out and communicated appropriately.
- Responsible for proper orientation, onboarding, and job and safety training.
- Act as a resource and liaison when assisting property leaders in operating their spaces and coaching their team.
- Work cross functionally within the organization to ensure the operation is supported with appropriate resources.
- Provide all daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly departmental reports as required.
- Immerse yourself in the community, create strong business ties with community leaders, and develop programs for the property to leverage these relationships.
- Manage, approve and navigate facilities repair and maintenance, while maintaining proper license and permits per state requirements.
- Ensure procedures are followed for security of monies, credit and financial transactions, and guest/client security.
- Conduct routine inspections of the entire property to ensure the appearance of such areas reflect highly on the Convene locations, brand and company and address all deficiencies.
- Partner with the Commercial team to establish and reach annual goals inclusive of driving post contract growth and closely monitoring area inventory.
- Responsible for building, reviewing and monitoring all assigned annual budgets remaining within budget and meeting company financial goals.
- Onboard and drive vendor relationships pertinent to the operation in partnership with procurement as necessary.
- Responsible for implementation of new initiatives to property teams and ensuring adherence to company standards.
- Support field team when business requires during peak business hours while maintaining operational and brand standards.
- Perform any other job related duties as assigned.

What We Look For:
- Experience leading a Hospitality Operation with a significant catering and/or Conference Service component in a progressive and premium environment.
- Working knowledge of Sales, Marketing and Revenue.
- Proven reputations as a coach-centric leader.
- Knowledge of food and beverage preparation techniques, health department rules and regulations, liquor laws and regulations.
- Financial acumen and the ability to manage Profit & Loss Statements.

Base Salary:
Salary Range: $135,000 - $145,000
This role is also eligible for Convene's annual incentive performance bonus plan.
