Who We Are
Aurora (Nasdaq: AUR) is delivering the benefits of self-driving technology safely, quickly, and broadly to make transportation safer, increasingly accessible, and more reliable and efficient than ever before. The Aurora Driver is a self-driving system designed to operate multiple vehicle types, from freight-hauling semi-trucks to ride-hailing passenger vehicles, and underpins Aurora Horizon and Aurora Connect, its driver-as-a-service products for trucking and ride-hailing.
Aurora hires talented people with diverse backgrounds who are ready to help build a transportation ecosystem that will make our roads safer, get crucial goods where they need to go, and make mobility more efficient and accessible for all. We’re searching for a Product Program Manager to join Aurora’s Software team focusing on HW/SW integration and factory software. This role will partner closely with our Hardware, Firmware, and Software teams to define the software necessary to build and test trucks with the Aurora Driver at scale.
In this role, you will
- Partner tightly with Hardware, Firmware, and Software engineering leaders to drive successful execution and delivery of software factory programs.
- Serve as a go-to resource for information and up-to-date status for relevant programs including facilitating regular executive program reviews.
- Develop detailed credible engineering plans for software that supports manufacturing and OEM integration, including operating systems, test tooling, diagnostic procedures, and software release processes.
- Partner with other TPMs and Product Managers (across HW and SW) to understand the company product roadmap and how software will need to support manufacturing and testing of future products.
- Collaborate closely with our OEM team and vehicle OEM partners to understand each factory’s requirements, agree on mutual time plans, and drive execution across software to meet that plan.
- Engage Hardware Operations teams to pilot manufacturing test software and diagnostics tools, gain feedback, and practice ahead of component and OEM build activities.
- Define the end-to-end software lifecycle from a manufacturing perspective including: product conception, hardware manufacturing, OEM integration, and commissioning for on-road operations.
- Proactively identify and remove obstacles to unblock team execution and balance competing priorities, escalating when necessary to maintain momentum and clear roadblocks.
Required Qualifications
- Travel up to 25%, including international travel, expected to support Aurora Driver Kit manufacturing and OEM integration plants.
- Minimum of 5 years experience as a Technical Program Manager, Product Manager, or Engineering Manager, in an autonomous systems, robotics, embedded systems, or software development environment. A familiarity with manufacturing & test software for automotive or consumer electronics is desirable.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Information Systems or a related area, or the equivalent in experience with evidence of exceptional ability preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to adjust communication based on audience.
- Solid technical aptitude and an ability to understand technical designs, software development lifecycle, challenges and risks; ability to work closely with engineers.
- Strong experience in project management; practical familiarity with both Agile and Waterfall methodologies and ability to apply them where best suited.
The base salary range for this position is $156,000-$234,000 per year. Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
