About GSMA Open Gateway:
GSMA Open Gateway represents a paradigm shift in how the telecoms industry designs and delivers services in a global API economy. It’s a framework of common network APIs designed to provide universal access to operator networks for developers. GSMA Open Gateway APIs adhere to an Open Source technical and licensing framework. This initiative helps developers and cloud providers enhance and deploy services rapidly across operator networks through single points of access to the world’s largest connectivity platform.
About the Team:
GSMA Legal provides advice across all areas of GSMA Open Gateway, ensuring compliance with all relevant statutory and contractual frameworks. The team advises on the feasibility of GSMA Open Gateway technical issues, and legal matters. They assist the GSMA Open Gateway team in generating new APIs and in the development and roll-out of GSMA Open Gateway APIs globally. The Legal Team members are based in Brussels, Atlanta, London, and Barcelona.
About the Role:
The successful applicant will work with the GSMA Open Gateway Team, under the guidance of the Associate General Counsel. The Contractor will support and assist by providing:
- Legal supervision and advice on Open Source and other API-related matters.
- Support for all Open Gateway-related work, including licensing, data privacy, and consent issues.
- Participation in GSMA Open Gateway meetings to ensure compliance with GSMA policies, rules, and procedures.
The Contractor will conduct research, market analysis, and/or product analysis in support of these tasks. They will also support GSMA’s efforts to ensure the GSMA Open Gateway programme complies with all GSMA regulations and procedures.
About You:
The successful candidate will have a legal background with an interest in telecommunications. While a legal qualification is not required, candidates should have studied law or have professional legal experience.
Applicants with a legal background but without technical experience are encouraged to apply, provided they are eager and committed to branching out into technical matters. This includes individuals who have left the legal field and are keen to re-enter.
Candidates with prior experience in telecommunications or technology trade associations or companies are preferred.

- Being a team player, capable of collaborating with various teams within the GSMA.
- Comfort with facing new challenges and working under time constraints.
- Experience in law coupled with an interest in technology.
- Ability to work independently, be inquisitive, and methodical.
- A strong ability to follow through and complete tasks to a high standard.
