Are you looking for a position that works on building best in class DevOps technology solutions? The Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis is looking for an experienced and motivated leader for our DevOps team. As the director on our team, you will have a broad set of responsibilities including software engineering of cloud-based DevOps tools, application observability and system operations. You will lead a high performing team of software engineers, business system analysts, project managers and people leaders to deliver on the bank’s mission.
This is a hybrid position and onsite work is an essential function of this position, and you are expected to be in the office at least 2 days per week for meetings and team collaboration.

Responsibilities:
- Direct and has responsibility for the activities of one or more technology specialties for the Bank or System, ensuring department, Bank, and System defined objectives and priorities are met.
- Provide direction to managers, supervisors, project managers, leads, architects, analysts and/or other staff regarding the development, administration, operation, configuration, information security, and/or implementation of solutions and processes, to ensure operational and project objectives are met while longer-term Bank, department, and customer goals are achieved.
- Lead and manage large scale and/or highly complex, multi-year technical projects involving multiple stakeholders, cross-functional and/or multi-District teams.
- Communicate and collaborate across System resources and department functions to resolve complex business and/or technical issues.
- Work collaboratively in a team environment, contribute to technology vision, ensures customer needs are met, promote a positive work environment, and effectively manage teams through transitions and change.
- Develop team goals and objectives that effectively advance the goals and objectives of the department, Bank, and FRS.
- Work closely with official staff and management team to formulate, implement and measure outcomes of strategic plans and goals, budgets and resource planning, projects, performance and related matters.
- Assist with setting a vision for the future, including developing plans to meet or achieve business needs consistent with System IT Principles.
- Maintain a high level of knowledge of technical, operational, and policy issues relating to the industry and provides a high level of application and/or operational expertise.
- Translate policy decisions from System IT governance bodies into solutions and operational changes, coordinating work assignments and implementation.
- Lead managers, supervisors, project managers, analysts and/or other support staff.
- Develop, motivate, coach, and evaluate performance of staff, which includes managing staff to identify developmental assignments and training opportunities, working with individuals on their career goals, delegating responsibilities, providing timely feedback and evaluating performance.
- Play a key role in the full cycle of employment matters, including but not limited to those involving hiring, retention and performance optimization, salary recommendations, and decisions related to the termination of employment, as well as the documentation of these matters.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree AND 10 years of broad technical experience in one or more phases of information technology and management information systems OR
- Master’s degree AND 8 years of broad technical experience in one or more phases of information technology and management information systems.
- Minimum 5 years of experience managing staff and leading a technical or support function.
- Experience balancing the needs of multiple stakeholders and finding good solutions that will work for all parties Strategic, critical thinking and judgment skills.
- Experience to include managing highly complex IT efforts and/or operations.
- Excellent oral and written communication, leadership, interpersonal, relationship-building, organizational and planning, and analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced proficiency using standard business applications and software.
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Ability to identify and manage risk.
- Experience and skills in capturing, analyzing and managing metrics.
Additional Information:
Salary Range: $152,400 - $228,600 Annual. Salary offer will be based on qualifications/experience of the candidate, alignment with market data, the needs of the position, our total compensation package, and internal equity.
