Director of Finance at Hopkins and Company
We are seeking a talented and ambitious Director of Finance to join our team of driven and enthusiastic hospitality professionals. What is the Job?
The Director of Finance will be part of the team that oversees accounting and, specifically, payroll and budget reporting. This role bridges human resources and accounting at the senior level. Leveraging your comprehensive financial knowledge, you will play a critical role in leading and managing accounts payable, training & certifying managers in budgets and financial stewardship, and work closely with our external accounting firm in their reporting. You will direct weekly payroll processing in a timely manner, ensuring managers are engaged with and shepherding proper business practice.
You will make recommendations to senior leadership based on cost/benefit findings and participate in the development and enhancement of company programs. Additional responsibilities may include: interviewing, training, scheduling of employees; planning organizing, directing and coordinating all department activities to ensure efficient operation.
Responsibilities Include:

Act as the primary liaison between the accounting team and business office, effectively translating P&L, tax requirements, and fostering strong client relationships

Participate annually with the senior leadership team to ensure their plans are captured appropriately, and the results of the process are clearly communicated

Build and fine-tune financial models to support forecasting, business analysis, and financial metric reporting
•
Share related reports with stakeholders across the organization in a timely manner in accordance with deadlines, working closely with communications team in presentation

Work closely with comptroller & CEO to provide cash flow forecasting
•
Participate in the long-range planning process, partnering with business leaders to develop 5-year plans, including financial statements, sensitivities, and valuation analyses

Prepares audit work papers, tax documents, and finance reports for compliance, regularity, and other assigned audits
•
Supports consistency in practice of SOP and employment law
•
Oversee the company's pay programs, including base salary, short-term incentives, and long-term incentives.

Partner with business leaders on pay package recommendations that address business needs and attract, retain, and motivate top talent.

Stay abreast of laws and regulations related to compensation and ensure that the organization's compensation programs comply with legal requirements and industry standards.

Your objective will be to ensure that Hopkins and Company's employee experience aligns with our long-term strategic plans and goals, contributing to talent retention and maintaining our reputation as a great place to work

Partner with managers on performance improvement plans and monitoring progress; coaching managers and employees through corrective action; and documenting as appropriate
•
Maintain an understanding of department data analytics, including turnover rates, HR activity levels, diversity measures, etc., to provide insight for department leaders on current state, gap to goal, trends, etc
Skills Required:
- Cash flow
- Financial Analysis & Management
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Expert knowledge of QuickBooks
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities, often with time constraints
- Excellent analytical and communication skills
- Strong understanding of current employment laws and commitment to continuously updating and maintaining knowledge in this area
Education and Experience Qualifications:
- 4-year degree in finance, economics, accounting, or a related field
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience including Planning and Analysis, operational analysis, or similar supervisory experience in Finance or Accounting
- Minimum of 2 years managing others
- Hospitality (Restaurant, Hotels) Experience
- Experience with Payroll reporting preferred
