Peraton is seeking highly qualified candidates to fill this amazing opportunity for the upcoming LONG-RANGE ENTERPRISE INTELLIGENCE, SURVEILLANCE, AND RECONNAISSANCE ACTIVITY (LEIA). Positions are located both CONUS/OCONUS at the INDOPACOM HQ, and at the TSOC and other locations abroad.
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Simulator Developer/Engineer to lead the design, development, and implementation of advanced simulation systems for the Department of Defense (DoD). This position supports DOD to design and develop simulators for current and future ISR sensors on various platforms, in order to enhance training for both military and commercial customers. Devices range in complexity from desktop trainers to high-fidelity weapon system trainers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software and hardware-based simulator development, with experience in real-time, multi-threaded software systems, and a passion for developing innovative solutions in a classified environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, implementation, integration, and testing of real-time, multi-threaded software and associated user interfaces for high-fidelity simulators.
- Ensure simulations meet rigorous DoD requirements and are aligned with mission-centric objectives.
- Work closely with systems engineers and architects to decompose system requirements from CONOPS into lower-level software requirements, translating them into functional and efficient code.
- Participate actively in an Agile software development environment, working with a scrum team to develop detailed user stories, participate in daily standups, backlog grooming, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
- Develop and maintain software that interfaces with hardware components, such as mission displays, avionics, and other simulation-specific devices.
- Ensure seamless integration of software and hardware for robust simulator performance.
- Analyze, debug, troubleshoot, and resolve complex system trouble reports (STRs).
- Collaborate with the test team to ensure timely closure of issues and deliver high-quality, reliable simulation systems.
- Contribute to the development of engineering documentation, including interface control documents, software development description documents, and test procedures.
- Ensure all development activities comply with DoD standards and regulations.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative team environment.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and best practices in simulation development.
- Lead research and development efforts to incorporate new methodologies and technologies into existing and future simulation projects.
Qualifications
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related STEM field, with a focus on digital systems engineering and embedded software engineering. Advanced degrees or equivalent experience may be considered.
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in simulator or software development. In absence of a degree additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu.
- Active and transferrable U.S. government-issued Secret security clearance or higher is required prior to start date.
- High proficiency in C++ and object-oriented programming, with experience in Java and C#.
- Experience in the development and maintenance of FPGA/SOC projects, including experience with Vivado, Vitis, and PetaLinux.
- Experience with automation tools like Selenium, Appium, AutoIT, TestComplete, and UFT for desktop, mobile, and web applications.
- Proficiency in SQL/Oracle databases and XML file operations.
- Experience with Agile Software Development methodologies and working in DevOps environments.
Desired qualifications:
- Experience providing Instructor-Led Training (ILT) and supporting a wide range of training modalities.
- Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and their integration with CBT modules.
- Knowledge of SCORM, xAPI, and other e-learning standards.
- Strong working knowledge of industry standard tools.
- Obtained one of the following certifications: CompTIA Multimedia and Web Design+ Certification, CIW Multimedia Specialist Certification, IC3 Digital Literacy Certification, Autodesk Certified User (ACU), Adobe Certified Associate (ACA), Avid Certified Professional or Adobe Certified Expert (ACE).
- Experience working with military or government training programs, particularly within highly regulated industries.
Working Conditions:
- Defined work location with a combination of remote and office-based work.
- Occasional travel may be required for training sessions or meetings in Oahu, Hawaii.

Target Salary Range
$104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
