The Role
We are the Product, Item and Transactions Experience Team in eBay’s buyer org. The team owns the Item details pages, Product pages, Transaction flows – such as Auctions, Best offers flows, SEO optimized landing experiences, and all their services. In other words, this team is responsible for the core systems and applications of eBay.
We are looking for a strong experienced backend engineer to work in the product development team, who is responsible for handling Buyer experience in eBay marketplace. As a self-motivated and enthusiastic member of our team, you will work with extremely hardworking peers in a fun environment. You will work in an agile environment with a focus on problem solving and engineering perfection.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with proficient peers leading and designing web technologies.
- Work in an agile environment with a focus on problem solving and engineering precision.
- Assess business problems, design optimal solutions and drive implementation to meet business expectations.
- Collaborate closely with peers, Architects, Product Managers, Business Analysts, Quality Engineers, and Operations teams to develop innovative solutions.
- Comfortable or familiar with all the layers of multi-tier applications to design complete solutions and maintain products.
- Guide junior engineers in building scalable, high-speed, distributed applications and advocate for design and quality standards.
- Contribute to the development, testing, release, triage, bug fix, documentation, and maintenance of products.
- Bring in new ideas to adapt to technological developments and build POCs to demonstrate.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science plus 6+ years of experience or MS in Computer Science plus 5+ years of hands-on experience in building large-scale distributed systems.
- Drive architecture discussions, produce well-documented design docs, participate in design and code reviews.
- Excellent understanding of computer science fundamentals, data structures, and algorithms.
- Expertise in object-oriented design methodology and application development in Java/J2EE, including Spring framework and building Restful services.
- Experienced in non-functional skills like Security, Load, and Performance Tests.
- Up to date knowledge in advancement in Web technologies, familiarity with GraphQL.
- Propose and implement working prototypes for testing new ideas.
- Possess leadership qualities to guide and influence effectively.
- Ensure code quality and maintainability by evolving architecture and tech stack.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins.
- Estimate engineering effort, plan execution cycles, and support post-production.
- Share engineering support, release, and on-call responsibilities for an always-on 24×7 site.
