Associate Medical Director - Psychiatrist

PURPOSE STATEMENT:
The Associate Medical Director will play a crucial role in supporting the Medical Director in overseeing clinical operations, ensuring high-quality patient care, and implementing medical policies and procedures. This position requires a dynamic leader with expertise in psychiatric care who can collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes and support the hospital's mission.
SALARY RANGE: $300,000 - $340,000 annually
Roles and Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist the Medical Director in providing clinical leadership and oversight to the medical staff, including psychiatrists, psychologists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in developing, implementing, and evaluating clinical programs and services to ensure they meet the highest standards of care.
- Conduct regular case reviews and provide guidance on complex cases to ensure evidence-based and patient-centered care.
- Collaborate with the Quality Improvement team to develop and implement strategies to improve patient care and safety.
- Monitor clinical performance metrics and implement corrective actions as needed to meet organizational goals.
- Lead initiatives to maintain accreditation standards and comply with state and federal regulations.
- Assist in developing and updating clinical protocols, policies, and procedures to reflect best practices in psychiatric care.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, medical ethics, and legal requirements.
- Mentor and supervise medical staff, providing guidance and support to enhance professional development.
- Conduct performance evaluations and assist in recruitment, onboarding, and retention of high-quality medical professionals.
- Maintain a partial clinical caseload, providing direct patient care and treatment planning.
- Ensure timely and accurate documentation of patient records in compliance with hospital policies and regulations.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in a psychiatric setting.
- Previous leadership or management experience is preferred.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed decisions in complex situations.
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:
- Current license to practice medicine, by the state in which the facility(s) operate.
- Board certification in Psychiatry.
- Current DEA credentials to prescribe controlled substances without restrictions and per regulation within the state in which the practitioner will be working.
- CPR and de-escalation and restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
- First aid may be required based on state or facility requirements.
SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS:
Previous supervisory experience preferred.
