About the Role
Valo Health is seeking a talented and highly motivated scientist with significant expertise in compound management to join the Drug Discovery group at our Lexington, MA research center. The successful candidate will play an important role in advancing the drug discovery pipeline and have a passionate desire to progress new medicines for patients while working in an innovative and fast-paced small company environment.
What You'll Do...
- Manage compound management workflows including compound registration, weighing of compounds, compound stock solution reformatting, curate compound inventories, liquid-liquid plate transfers, and archive storage.
- Work closely with cross-functional chemistry, ADME, pharmacology, and biology teams to coordinate compound management activities to delivery of assay-ready plates in support of rapid optimization cycles.
- Maintain consumable supplies to ensure uninterrupted operations of workflows.
- Interface with CROs and vendors for external compound inventories, purchasable compound orders, and shipments.
- Manage instrument vendor relationships, continuously advancing and integrating novel workflows, and assist in troubleshooting the automation and software platforms.
- Keep abreast of contemporary compound management practices and provide business case arguments to adopt new technologies.
What You Bring...
- Minimum bachelor’s degree required in a scientific discipline with 6+ years of relevant laboratory experience, of which a minimum of 2-3 years of compound management experience.
- Ability to work independently and cross-functionally with team members in chemistry, ADME, and in vitro pharmacology.
- Extensive experience in operating and troubleshooting compound management automation platforms, liquid handling, and periphery devices (i.e., tube sorting, 2D barcode scanning) is highly desired.
- Liquid handling scripting, automated workflow scheduling and software programming are major pluses.
- Exceptional organization skills and detail-oriented approach to planning and executing at the bench.
- Documented sustained performance and demonstrated technical proficiency, scientific creativity, independent thought, and ability to effectively collaborate with others, add to project strategy & deliverables and participate in decision-making.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
