Cardiac Ablation Solutions (CAS) offers cardiac mapping, navigation, and ablation solutions to treat patients with abnormal heart rhythms. Role and Responsibilities
The ideal candidate for this position has had experience in design, process development, verification, and validation activities. Experience in plastics and electromechanical assemblies in the medical device industry is a plus. This individual is experienced in performing design analysis optimization, utilizing finite element analysis paired with simulated design of experiments as well as hands-on prototyping/testing. This position will work across the organization driving and collaborating with functions in Product Design, Systems, Operations, PMO, Quality and Regulatory to assure the successful execution of business goals.
This position will be located in Mounds View, MN. Working onsite 3 days per week. The list below includes typical expectations:
- Complex product design activities.
- Perform concept development and prototyping and change analysis.
- Design / develop components to be manufactured via plastic injection molding, stamping, machining, extrusion, and related processes.
- Create and interpret analyses to determine suitability of design concepts.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineering staff.
- Incorporate risk-based decision-making into the design process.
- Apply Six Sigma (DFSS) methodologies to all aspects of the design/development process.
- Ensure on-time completion of Design Control deliverables.
- Grow and maintain knowledge current with related technologies.
- Work with manufacturing and suppliers to ensure feasibility of high-volume assembly.
- Translate VoX feedback into product requirements.
- Create and release engineering drawings, reports, and presentations.
- Travel to supplier and manufacturing sites as required.
- Present technical findings or project status to cross functional teams and management through meeting minutes, design reviews, presentations, and other means of communication.
- Research, plan, design, verify, validate electromechanical products and systems.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements

- Bachelor of Engineering degree and minimum 7 years of experience in mechanical product development
- Or, Master of Engineering degree and minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical product development
Nice to Have
- Experience in the medical device industry.
- Experience with CAD based tools (SolidWorks).
- Experience in complex mechanical system design at architectural level.
- Experience with plastic injection molding in a high-volume environment.
- Extensive experience in 3D modeling, finite element analysis, and statistical design analysis.
- Process and test method development, validation.
- Formal training in Six Sigma methodologies.
- Experience designing/developing catheter products.
- Experience with high-volume manufacturing.
- Experience with consumer electronics, wearables and/or similar miniaturized electromechanical products.
- Experience with defining and working with mechanical subsystems within integrated modular architectures.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD): $122,400.00 - $183,600.00. This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP). The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
