ABC Supply Co., Inc., is looking for an experienced and motivated in-house attorney specializing in litigation management to join its growing Beloit, Wisconsin-based in-house Legal Department. The ideal candidate will report to the Deputy General Counsel and will be responsible for managing and overseeing litigation matters, providing legal advice and strategy, and ensuring compliance with legal requirements. This is a full-time, in-office position.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Managing and overseeing all phases of Department-managed claims and litigation from inception through resolution, including retaining and managing outside counsel, issuing and managing litigation holds, conducting investigations, overseeing discovery responses, and drafting or responding demand letters.
- Collaborating with outside counsel and internal stakeholders to develop litigation strategy and budget management.
- Overseeing responses to subpoenas and other information requests.
- Preparing legal memoranda and researching various legal issues.
- Drafting and negotiating settlement agreements and related documents.
- Preparing and providing training to internal teams on litigation-related issues and best practices.
- Providing general legal advice, support, and services to ABC Supply and its subsidiaries and divisions on a broad range of topics and issues.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- At least 7 years of relevant legal experience in a law firm and/or corporate legal department.
- Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice law in a U.S. state or D.C.
Minimum Qualifications and Skills:
- Strong understanding of civil procedure and litigation strategy.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong legal research skills.
- Knowledge and experience in various areas of the law.
- Strong presentation skills with the ability to persuade a wide range of audiences.
- Attention to detail and accuracy; advanced organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and properly prioritize pending tasks.
- Ability to plan and coordinate multiple projects at the same time in a fast-paced environment.
- An overall positive attitude and good interpersonal skills.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and ethics, and an ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion.
- Self-motivated and able to work efficiently, either independently or in a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience managing local or outside counsel.
- Experience with construction and/or product defect litigation.
- Familiarity with Article 2 of the UCC and related matters.
- Experience working with and managing support staff.
- Familiarity with Legal Tracker (formerly Serengeti) or similar legal matter management and e-billing solutions.
