Job Overview: The Lead Solar Installer is responsible for overseeing the installation of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems at residential and commercial properties. This role involves leading a team of installers, ensuring that installations are performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation Leadership:
- Lead and supervise a team of solar installers on-site, providing guidance and training as needed.
- Coordinate and manage all aspects of the installation process, including site preparation, system layout, panel mounting, electrical wiring, and system testing.
- Ensure installations are completed on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety protocols and industry regulations to ensure a safe work environment for the team and the customer.
- Conduct regular safety briefings and ensure all team members are equipped with and use personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ensure all installations comply with local building codes, electrical codes, and company standards.
- Customer Interaction:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers during the installation process, addressing any questions or concerns.
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
- Technical Expertise:
- Perform detailed system inspections and troubleshoot any issues that arise during installation.
- Ensure all electrical components are installed correctly and perform system tests to verify functionality and performance.
- Team Management:
- Assist training, and development of new installers.
- Provide feedback and performance evaluations for team members.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Complete and submit all required paperwork, including installation reports, time sheets, and material usage.
- Maintain accurate records of all installations and related activities.
- Maintenance and Upgrades:
- Assist with the maintenance and repair of existing solar systems as needed.
- Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices to ensure the company remains at the forefront of solar technology.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in solar PV installation, with a proven track record of leading installation teams.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications such as NABCEP Solar PV Installer Certification, OSHA certification, or equivalent preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of solar PV systems, installation techniques, and electrical systems.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and customer service skills.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Ability to lift heavy equipment and work at heights.
