LOCATION:
The Partnership team works in a hybrid capacity. This position is expected to be in schools 80% of the time, with occasional visits to the Partnership office in Downtown LA. School sites are based in Boyle Heights, South Los Angeles, and Watts.

ABOUT THE POSITION
The Partnership is seeking a Vice President of Family & Community Partnerships. The Vice President will be responsible for developing and implementing a vision for intentional family engagement and community partnership initiatives for our 20 Partnership Schools. The Vice President of Family & Community Partnerships will be accountable for the implementation of strategies to meet individual school site needs, as well as network-wide goals. The Vice President will lead a team of ~10 full- and part-time staff and will be responsible for managing and coaching the team to set and achieve their goals. This is a full-time, year-round position.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Position responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Vision-Setting & Implementation (35%)
- Develop, guide, and monitor the implementation of a comprehensive vision & strategy for family engagement and community partnership initiatives, providing strategic alignment and ensuring cohesion across team members.
- Support family engagement team members with strategy and implementation of initiatives and fully leveraging part-time outreach team members.
- Support the community partnerships team with strategic engagement of community-based organizations and other resources to further the work of Partnership schools towards improving student outcomes.
- Work with team members to build capacity for school sites to deepen relationships with families and community partners in service of school transformation and systems change.
- Identify appropriate and relevant measures of success for the team’s work and use data to inform decisions and strategies that center Partnership students, families, and communities.
- Codify family engagement and community partnership best practices to inform systems change strategies within the Partnership network and beyond, including at the district, city, and state levels.
Team Management & Leadership (25%)
- Provide management, coaching, and leadership development for team members.
- Lead the family and community partnerships team through planning cycles, growth and development opportunities, and performance evaluations.
- Model Partnership leadership competencies for direct reports and team members.
Organization Collaboration & Leadership (20%)
- Collaborate with Partnership teams to maximize support for Partnership students which may include college access partners, after-school programs, and agencies and organizations that support students’ academic and socio-emotional needs.
- Collaborate with the Development Team to cultivate and retain grants for team initiatives.
- Support learning and development across the organization on topics and issues of relevance to family engagement and community partnerships.
LAUSD & Vendor Relationships (20%)
- Cultivate relationships with community leaders, organizations, and collaboratives within South LA, Watts, and Boyle Heights.
- Develop relationships with key LAUSD staff to support schools in accessing resources and removing obstacles that hinder transformation.
- Support revisions to district policies and practices related to family engagement and community partnerships.
- Actively participate in district committees and coalitions to advance our collective efforts.
POSITION FIRST-YEAR PRIORITIES

- Lead the development of a strong vision for family engagement and community partnerships to drive school transformation across the Partnership network of schools.
- Build relationships with school-site leaders, teachers, and key Partnership school-site teams.
- Build relationships and collaborate with Partnership staff and external partners to help inform and strengthen our school transformation strategies.
- Collaborate with the family engagement teammates in executing parent college programming and initiatives.
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 10 years of professional experience in family engagement, community engagement and/or strategic partnerships with specific experience serving historically marginalized communities.
- Minimum 5 years of management experience, including managing and leading teams (including teams of managers and directors), complex projects, and cross-functional teams.
- Adaptable to shifting priorities and competing demands while keeping organizational and team goals in mind.
- Ability to work collaboratively across differences in work styles and skill sets.
- Experience leading and managing multiple complex projects in a fast paced and innovative setting while remaining positive and solutions-oriented.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with administrative staff, instructional staff, and support staff.
- Ability to cast clear and mission-aligned strategy and vision, and bring others along through goal-setting, progress monitoring, and executing day-to-day work.
- Experience leading change management with key stakeholders.
- Excellent critical- and systems-thinking skills with the ability to identify potential gaps, and equity gaps in particular.
- Proven ability to consistently apply a lens of diversity, equity, and inclusion to family & community partnership systems and processes.
- Ability to build authentic relationships and cultivate trust with key stakeholders and team members.
- The ability to travel between school sites and Partnership home office.
- Spanish language fluency (spoken and written), preferred.
- Working understanding of K-12 public education sector, preferred.
- A deep belief in the power of our communities, as well as the Partnership’s mission, approach, and core values.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
The starting salary range for external candidates is $153,213-$166,731. The Partnership’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion extends to our compensation practices. Our goal is to ensure that salaries are fair for all staff members who hold many intersectional identities, and we set salaries based on a robust compensation model grounded in consistency and transparency. The exact salary for this position is set through the Partnership’s compensation policy and is dependent on the candidate’s relevant skills, experiences, and organizational tenure.
