The UNM women’s health team serves patients from across New Mexico in UNM clinics, schools and Planned Parenthood offices.
Position Summary:
The Associate Chief Nursing Officer – UNM Women’s & Children’s Hospitals (ACNO) will assist the CNO UNM Hospitals & Clinics with ongoing development, direction, and supervision of UNM Women’s & Children's Hospital. The (ACNO) will function as the Nurse Executive primarily responsible for coordination of patient access, throughput and flow. Also jointly responsible with the CNO UNM Hospitals & Clinics for ensuring that patient services are in compliance with nursing care standards as well as state and federal regulations. Assist in developing and revising nursing policies and procedures, and assist the CNO UNM Hospitals & Clinics with nurse recruitment, retention, training and quality assurance. Promote high quality nursing care with optimal efficiency in the administration of fiscal affairs and other activities concerning nursing throughout the clinical enterprise. Ensure adherence to Hospital and Departmental Policies and Procedures. No patient care assignment.
Detailed Responsibilities:
- SUPERVISION - Supervise multiple departments within the Hospitals as assigned
- SUPERVISION - Perform senior AOC rotation
- DEVELOPMENT - Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise
- COMMITTEES - Participate in community, Health Sciences Center, Hospitals, and Nursing committees as appropriate; disseminate committee information as appropriate
- RESEARCH - Promote, cooperate with, participate in, and conduct research and investigation studies designed to improve evidenced-based nursing outcomes in clinical areas
- ADMINISTRATION - Assess the organization’s nursing practices to promote better safety and patient-care delivery
- ADMINISTRATION - Oversee record-keeping and documentation
- PLANNING - Analyze areas of planning and operational efficiency and make recommendations for improvement. Assist in planning new services and programs
- GOALS - Contribute to organizational goals and direction. Support the Hospitals quest for Magnet Status and support the Pathway to Excellence journey
- FACILITIES - Represent the Division of Nursing needs regarding improvements of Hospitals facilities including construction, renovation of structures, and purchase of capital equipment
- PUBLIC RELATIONS - Collaborate with members of the community to promote good public relations
- QUALITY - Work to ensure quality, evidence-based patient care is provided. Monitor service quality and procedures, and evaluate outcomes. Support achievement of improved patient satisfaction and improved patient outcomes
- FINANCES - Ensure proper allocation of financial resources, and monitor department budgets and spending
- PROJECTS - Evaluate and implement special projects
- MANAGEMENT - Assist nurse management with leadership and decision-making
