Overview:
Good Shepherd is seeking a dedicated Primary Care Medical Director to grow and develop a robust, quality-driven, and patient-focused primary care program. This leadership role will focus on enhancing the delivery of care within the Good Shepherd Primary Care clinics while supporting both our providers and community.
Compensation: Base + Production and added incentives
Min base comp: $290K

The Medical Director of Primary Care will provide clinical leadership and oversight for the Primary Care Program, which includes Pediatrics, Family Medicine, and Internal Medicine. This role is a balance of 70% patient care and 30% administrative duties. The Medical Director will work in a collaborative dyad partnership with the Director of Primary Care and the Clinic Practice Manager(s) to drive the strategic goals and operational excellence of the department.
Responsibilities:
Patient Care (70%):
- Provide direct patient care in primary care settings.
- Serve as a clinical role model and mentor to physicians and other healthcare providers within the department.
- Maintain a high standard of patient care and ensure compliance with medical best practices and regulatory standards.
Administrative and Clinical Leadership (30%):
- Physician Recruitment & Retention: Assist in efforts to recruit, onboard, and retain, high-quality physicians to ensure the department is fully staffed with skilled and compassionate providers.
- Quality Metrics: Oversee and monitor clinical primary care quality metrics, working with the quality team to implement improvements and maintain high standards of care.
- Physician Performance: Evaluate and enhance provider performance through regular feedback, professional development, and performance improvement plans as needed.
- Program Growth & Development: Drive the growth and development of primary care services, ensuring that Good Shepherd’s primary care clinics meet community access needs and organizational goals. This role will also serve as the Rural Health Clinic (RHC) Medical Director ensuring continued growth and development of the RHC and Patient Centered Primary Care Home (PCPCH).
- Budget Assistance: Collaborate with leadership to assist in the preparation and management of the department's budget, ensuring financial sustainability.
- Referral Outreach: Work with internal and external departments to enhance referral processes and improve patient care continuity.
- Committee Involvement: Serve on quality and operations committees, contributing to strategic discussions and decision-making.
- Strategic Planning: Assist in defining and implementing action plans to achieve departmental goals and strategies, in alignment with organizational objectives.
Qualifications:
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from an accredited medical school.
- Board certification in family medicine, pediatrics, or internal medicine.
- Active medical license in the state of Oregon.
- Minimum of five years of clinical experience in a primary care setting.
- Minimum of three years leadership experience in a healthcare environment.
- Strong understanding of healthcare quality metrics and performance improvement.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a leadership role within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
