The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist is an advanced practice nurse that works in collaboration with the surgical team, providing and utilizing a variety of anesthetics for medical and surgical procedures. The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist cares for the patient during the course of the anesthetic including preoperative assessment, administration and maintenance, and recovery.

Responsibilities
- The CRNA performs a preoperative assessment/chart review of the patient to formulate an anesthetic plan according to the individual needs of the patient.
- Responds appropriately to any significant physiological, anesthesia changes and treats accordingly, informing the staff anesthesiologist when appropriate.
- Provides for optimum resuscitative care for life threatening conditions and/or emergent situations in the hospital.
- Assists with orientation of new CRNA staff and with the orientation and instruction of student nurse anesthetists and other anesthesia personnel.
- Participates in research projects as directed; implements anesthesia practice changes based on research findings and current standards by demonstrating the use of accepted anesthesia technology and pharmacology.
- Demonstrates professional and ethical conduct and compassion in all patient interactions and demonstrates respect and concern for all members of the healthcare team.
Qualifications
EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited school of registered nursing; graduate of an accredited school of nurse anesthesia with eligibility for membership with the AANA and completion of the NBCRNA national examination.
LICENSURE: RN in the State of Ohio, APN in the state of Ohio
CERTIFICATIONS: ACLS, PALS, BLS
SKILLS: Skilled in Providing Anesthesia
EXPERIENCE: New graduates acceptable
MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Note frequency as Constantly (67-100%), Frequently (34-66%) and Occasionally (0-33%) for each requirement. Also note any lifting requirements with pound limit.
