Steptoe LLP, a Washington, DC-based Am Law 100 firm, is seeking a Cloud Solutions Designer to work as a skilled developer with experience building and maintaining scalable solutions, including within the Microsoft suite of tools and the Azure AI Platform. The individual should have technical expertise and be able to work both with a team and independently. The individual will be involved in the creation, maintenance, and update of data-centric solutions to support the innovative delivery of legal services and business functions. This is an opportunity to build innovative solutions to support driving the firm's strategy forward.
Essential Functions:
- Consistently create well-designed and innovative solutions for practitioners and business professionals.
- Create web applications and back-end functionality using, among other things, the Microsoft suite of tools and the Azure AI Platform incorporating data from firm systems and other data sources.
- Create and maintain data-centric applications for teams to support ongoing business needs as well as point solutions for particular matters and projects.
- Maintain updated knowledge of new and emerging industry trends and technology.
- Meet regularly with stakeholders and management to understand and refine business and functional requirements and determine project scopes and specifications.
- Develop and maintain strategic operational applications, tools, and solutions, including structured and unstructured data manipulation and participation in tactical and strategic development projects.
- Work efficiently and carefully to complete projects, develop plans for completing larger projects, collaborate with colleagues, and suggest new solutions to support the Firm's goals.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in development, coding, or related field.
- Experience planning and developing applications across multiple projects and use cases.
- Knowledge of the Microsoft suite of tools and the Azure AI Platform.
- Broad familiarity with the Azure cloud platform and modern DevOps practices is a plus.
- Expertise in one or more programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, .NET, Python, Go, etc.
- Strong understanding of software development methodologies, including Agile, Scrum, and Kanban.

- Responsibility & Accountability: prioritize own and team's work; anticipate consequences of actions, potential problems, or opportunities for change; sets and meet realistic deadlines. Ensure a high level of fiscal control and accountability for project budget.
Work Environment:
- Available to work in the office 9:00 - 5:30 pm Monday through Friday.
- Position may be hybrid to fully remote with availability to attend in-person in-office meetings as required.

- Available to work beyond regular hours when necessary.
- Available to travel as required in support of firm business.
The anticipated salary range for this position is $115,000 - $125,000. The actual base salary offered will be dependent upon the applicant's experience and qualifications, as well as other job-related factors, including but not limited to, relevant skills, education, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, geographic location.
