The Aerospace Space Domain Superiority Directorate, in the Special Programs Division, supports a broad array of Space Domain Awareness and Combat Power missions covering the entire threat response chain from the Space Domain Awareness function through the multidomain effects needed for space superiority. These programs include major system acquisitions for multiple ground and space segments, future architecture definition at the data/software/hardware levels, and research and technology for continuous evolution of space warfighting capabilities.
The Aerospace Space Domain Superiority Directorate provides technical and programmatic support to a broad array of programs including the Geosynchronous Space Situational Awareness Program (GSSAP) program. The GSSAP satellites are a space-based capability supporting space surveillance operations that allows for more accurate tracking and characterization of man-made orbiting objects.
Work Model
This position is full time onsite in El Segundo, CA.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Acting as a technical authority supporting a government advanced concepts lead in a diverse organization that provides technical and acquisitions expertise to a program that has operational, production, acquisition, and future capability enhancement phases.
- Coordinating Aerospace-tailored mission assurance for a national security space system, serving as the integration leader and/or coordinator of a team of technical contributors.
- Guiding capability development, integration, and test across segments.
- Leading and performing in-depth technical analyses, evaluations, and risk assessments across multiple efforts and contracts.
- Scoping requirements for and initiating acquisition of technical support from appropriate corporate resources.
- Monitoring and assisting in development of budgets and other resource allocations to accomplish tasks.
- Working directly with government and SETA counterparts within the program office and with contractor personnel.
- Exemplifying Aerospace corporate values of objectivity and integrity when serving as a trusted agent to our government customers.
What You Need to be Successful – Senior Project Engineer, Engineering Program Management
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical subject area.
- 12 or more years of experience in a relevant field which includes support of National Security Space missions.
- Exceptionally high level of initiative.
- Demonstrated ability to work adaptively on multiple tasks in a small, diverse team in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain trusted relationships with government customers and key stakeholders under minimal supervision.
- Track record of leading integrated multidisciplinary teams across multiple efforts.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Willingness to travel up to 20 percent of the time.
- This position requires a current and active Top Secret SCI security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
- Advanced degree in a relevant technical subject area.
- 15 or more years of increasingly responsible professional engineering/scientific experience.
- Prior experience leading deployment of new cross-segment capabilities.
- Experience with space system acquisitions.
- Experience leveraging the Engineering and Technology Group organization or technical support teams to provide effective contributions.
- Experience in Space Superiority or Space Control programs.
- Current and active Special Access Programs (SAP) security clearances.

Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
