UI Health is seeking Radiologic Technologists to join our Diagnostic Service department. There are multiple openings for both part-time and full-time positions. Work schedules include Days, Evenings, Nights, and Rotating Weekends. Employees in this position operate and maintain radiographic equipment and supplies under the direction of a physician to perform procedures involving the acquisition and processing of diagnostic radiographic images. A Radiologic Technologist assists with the preparation of the patient(s) and a sterile procedure environment, as appropriate. They also monitor patient safety and comfort and maintain patient records under direct supervision.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Obtains medical history pertinent to the exam being performed within the guidelines set forth by HIPAA.
- Interprets physicians' orders; screens patient(s) prior to a procedure.
- Positions and transfers patient(s) on/off the radiographic table while utilizing proper body mechanics.
- Assists with patient and procedure room preparation; positions and adjusts equipment according to the specifications of the procedure.
- Explains components of procedures to patient(s); observes and monitors patient(s) throughout procedure(s).
- Performs procedures on patient(s) to produce optimal diagnostic images, under supervision.
- Determines the best method of obtaining optimal diagnostic images.
- Administers contrast media and/or medications, under supervision.
- Assists with post-procedure clean-up; maintains and cleans all equipment.
- Reviews, labels, formats, and processes diagnostic images after capturing.
- Utilizes health information systems to navigate patient records.
- Adheres to all government, industry, or institutional regulatory guidelines.
- Operates all radiographic equipment including mobile units.
- Maintains cleanliness and order in the department.
- Reports all equipment malfunctions to supervisor.
- Assists with training of Radiology Technology students.
- Participates in emergency drills and responds to disaster requests.
- Performs diagnostic exams utilizing CR and DR imaging.
- Completes all required in-services and training.
- Provides On-Call coverage as needed.
- Attends and participates in staff meetings; maintains continuing education requirements.
- Performs administrative support duties.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Required:
- Current/valid registration and certification in Radiography by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Current/valid accreditation as a Radiologic Technologist by the State of Illinois (IEMA).
- Current/Valid American Heart Association BLS CPR certification.
